I actually like TS, but I seem to rarely find anyone else using it when I am playing. Plus I play better when I use my surround sound versus a headset. Anyone have ideas on the highest quality headsets? If so I am all ears as I would LOVE to find one that does not limit direction of sound.

Thanks for the endorsement MM I appreciate it. (Blushing) Hope you enjoy your time in The AF, and again thank you for making a choice to protect our country and my family. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Thanks DS. I will proudly do all that I can in the name of freedom! (God forbid someone like Hillary or Obama get in the Oval Office while I'm Active Duty..) I leave for Basic Training on June 27th and I won't have internet access again until August 10th at the very soonest. I'm gonna miss you guys.

I have one of those, but I do not get the results you mention. I am going to try a mic in conjunction with the surround speakers I have like Lam does to see what results I get.

However, Vin, your game sounds will be picked up by the mic if you do it that way, and we will hear your game sounds. What Lam has done in the past is to have an auto-mute set up so that when he activates his TS to speak, it mutes the game sounds. That's what makes it work. Otherwise, it's like you're speaking from a cave and your voice is the same volume as your game sounds (that's how Shootsy and Monk sound). That's still better than not being on TS, but the combo mic and earphones ("headset") is best. Yes, you'll hear the game sounds at the same time someone is speaking, but usually it's the voice that is drowned out and not the game sounds (if you're worried about footsteps or ricochets near you, etc.). More importantly than the volume, however, is the time and attention you use speaking on TS--that's what gets me killed more than not hearing the game sounds! But with my Mac, I can set the game sound level independent of the TS sound, so I can set the two differently, if that were important. I don't know if TS for Windows has volume output separate from the game sounds output. I use the cheapy Logitech USB headset, about $29 at RadioShack, probably $22 at walmart, and it does just fine for this, except that after about an hour, the band hurts the top of my head and I have to take a 5 min break. The bigger model is more comfortable and has external mute and volume controls incorporated, but those controls occasionally get bumped and put you into mute status without your knowing it; those units cost about $10 to $15 more. Lam, How come the lamronsplayground.com web site is showing me playground equipment like playsets and basketballs? psssttt.....check out the website problems/solutions section hehe. In reality, selling playground equipment is his "other" source of income. He has to advertise somehow right? Naming the server lamrons playground didn't seem to do the trick. /runs away

Red, I gave the Logitech headset (the nicer one) another try again tonight. I can hear and be heard great... my only unresolved issue is that of the loss of directionality. I often cannot determine "where" the footsteps/shots/sounds are coming from. I have a great sound card, I suppose I am just spoiled by the Klipsch surround sound speakers I have used for the past few years. But for added fun in gameplay, you are right that TS rocks. I played a few rounds with Beer, Big Daddy, and some noobs tonight and being able to chat amoungst ourselves really made it better. INow my paranoid side is kicking in to wonder what the comments about me have been over the past years

Well, Vinnie, there are the Seinheiser and other truly nice headsets you can buy, 100-200 dollars. I'm with DS, though, my game lets me choose sound quality, and I have good stereo/directionality of sounds with my cheapy headset.

Red,
I played around with the settings and am getting better results. I may look into a Senneheiser set though.
