The new Client Fix V11 is ready for download on the main website now. This adds a new tool to your inventory: a Grappling Hook Launcher!
There are two versions of the GHook. One can only be used when launched at marked "Hook Points" on the maps. The Hook Points are blue bars with yellow ends. Hit one with the hook and you will be pulled up to that point. Launching hooks anywhere else will have no effect.
The other version is the Super GHook. You can tell which you have by the weapon skin. The Super has green flames at the end of the barrel and a few other detail changes. This Grappling Hook can be launched at anything, and you will be pulled to that point. There are a lot of places to get stuck, so you'll have to use your GHook to get back out again.
Which GHook you get will depend on the map. If a map has Hook Points in it you will get the regular version, if the map layout won't cause too many problems with players going everywhere, you will get the Super GHook. The GHook is in your pistol slot and replaces the Machete if the map is set up for it. Some of the stock and custom maps are set up for GHook use, I will be adding more to the list as I get time.
The biggest bug with the Grappling Hooks is that you will be pulled to the hook impact point no matter what is in the way. So you will frequently see player's bodies get pulled through things. For example: if you shoot out through a window, you will get pulled right through the wall. When aiming the GHook, keep in mind that your feet will end up at the point of impact.
The Grappling Hooks should be fun, but obviously there is a lot of potential for abuse with them. So LPmembers will have the ability to disable GHooks for any map they want. They can also override the map setting and give everybody Super GHooks if they would like. (LPmembers check your E-Mail for the latest LPmenu)
The Grappling Hooks are intended to be a tool rather than a weapon, but you can shoot them at players if you want or bash with it. All GHook kills are counted as "bashing" kills. You will also be slightly injured if you shoot them at something very close to yourself (same as the throwing knives). If you are using the Super GHook, and hit a player, you will NOT be pulled to the impact point. It will just do damage to the player you hit. I know some of you where looking forward to Scorpian-style "Get over here!" hits, but players just get stuck together if I allow that.
Big thanks goes to AIGAD for the Grappling Hook model and skin. Great job!
Have fun with it!
