Today was the first time in a long while that I had nice weather AND wasn't working AND felt up to doing anything, so I went out and rode my motorcycle for a while.
It was nice to be out riding a bendy back road, the trees turning pretty colors, speed-suggestion signs whipping by in an unreadable blur, friendly waves from other bikers....
Every time I ride I think, "why aren't I doing this every day?" and "if I quit my job, I'll have more time to ride" and "why hasn't RedRock tried this?"
When I got home I decided to take a few pics before I put it away. The picture I posted before was a catalog picture, here's my actual bike:

Now this is really funny:
According to the Office of Special Investigations of the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), firearm traces involving 50 caliber sniper rifles, as conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, have "identified some examples of criminal misuse of the .50 caliber rifle with a nexus to terrorism, outlaw motorcycle gangs, international and domestic drug trafficking, and violent crime."

I believe this motorcycle/.50 caliber rumor was started by me personally. Look at my saddle bags. They are tall .50 cal. ammo cans that I stripped and refinished to match the bike colors. They make very durable waterproof storage, and MUCH cheaper than commercially available hard bags. I was pretty happy with how well I was able to get them to match the bike, but knowledgeable anti-gunners weren't fooled. Obviously I'm a member of the notorious "Half-Inch-Killers" gang.

Since I'm a great believer in Look-At-Me/Notice-Me/Please-Don't-Hit-Me, I wanted to add reflectors that didn't make me look like a kid's tricycle. I found that 3M makes BLACK reflective sheets. This comes in regular 8.4 x 11 sheets and you cut it to suit your needs. In normal lighting they're completely black and almost unnoticable against a black background. At night, when headlights hit them they light up very bright!
I added some stripes to the side cover:
