I came close to hitting a deer one night. He was much bigger than the one in that video and had huge antlers. I was going around the outside of a curve, and he has standing in the inside lane. Since my headlights were following the outside edge of the turn, I didn't see him until I was only a few feet away. I could have put out my left hand and smacked him in the nose.
There's only two things that really scare me while riding. Suicidal, furry, woodland creatures at night and loose sand on the road near construction zones.

Know what a Yankee's definition of a possum is? A flat animal that lives in the middle of the road. But seriously, deer collisions with cars and bikes kill people.
And by the way, many years of practice and I'd never seen a pedestrian killed by a motorcyle, until last year, we had 2 different instances, and this year we've had a motorcycle with 2 on it killed when they hit a bicyclist (and killed him to boot--boy was he ever torn up!).
