Tried all weekend to get ahold of a good friend of mine, Saturday morning his wife called here looking for him. Saturday afternoon we found out that he had wrecked his motorcycle Friday night. He was life flighted to the hospital an hour away and was placed in ICU. He is doing better and sounds like he was pretty lucky, considering. fractured skull, broken color bone, and a lot of road rash. Planning to go see him when he gets out of ICU and will keep you up to date. May God be with him.

Was there another vehicle involved? Sounds like he wasn't wearing a helmet or leathers, I know those accidents can do alot of damage. Let us know how he's doing.

Hope he finds the road to recovery as easy as possible. I'm thinking the same thing as Lamron...his injuries point to no helmet or riding gear. Never ride without it!!!

Sounds to me like an ejection over the handlebars after hitting something with the front wheel, helmet or no. Closed head injury can be very devastating/debilitating, even with minimal fracturing. I hope he does well immediately and in the long run.

Thank you all very much. No helmet, we don't have to wear them here so we don't. No matter how stupid that is. Only time we put a helmet on is when we cross the state line, and that's when others coming into the state take theirs off. Yes he was wearing riding gear little to no road rash. Only on his knuckles were it wore through the glove, and on one of his ears. He has been moved out of the ICU which is good news. He stood on his own two feet today. He says "funny" things like "I can't hear out of my eye." and "my elbow hurts" While he grabs his shoulder. He can remember his 4 kids names but not their age. Little things like that. They hope to move him back to a hospital in our city for in patcient therapy. His head looks normal, so things are looking up for him. Again thank you all.

That's an expressive aphasia, he knows what he wants to say and is trying, but it's not coming out right, sort of a crossed-wiring phenomenon in the brain, all the result of closed head trauma. The good news is that when the swelling all goes down, if the tiny brain bruises and tears (that go with the trauma leading to the swelling) are not in crucial areas and are not in total affecting too much brain tissue, the aphasia frequently goes away too. Unfortunately, a seizure disorder often follows head trauma, sometimes requiring years of anti-seizure medication. Best Wishes for your friend, and I will definitely put him and his family in my prayers, too.

Well he's home now, so things are looking up. Still in alot of pain but got good meds for that. They found some different paint on the engine and it looked as tho it had been hit, they think he might have been hit by a car. We will know more later about that tho. For now he's stuck in his house and has to go to therapy twice a week. Just an update thanks again guys.
