He is back to work but on light duty. Talked to him about MOH but he has dial up. Will that work the same or does he need to get out of the dark ages?

It will work, but he will have a high ping and might be too high for LP. I languished in dial-up land for my first two years of playing MoH. It sucked.

Well, if I understand Lam's "Ping and You" postings, it doesn't matter how you connect, the ping should be the same, right??? Or not??? Never did understand what Lam was saying.

Well, there may not be much difference between one high speed connection and another, relatively speaking. But dial-up is just barely a step up from two coffee cans connected by a piece of string. Generally we're talking about response delay to a packet being sent, but with a very slow connection the actual amount of time needed to transmit that packet becomes important. So to keep from falling helplessly far behind, the client requests the server to send updates less often, resulting in very jerky play.

He's welcome to give it a try, but he's going to need to upgrade his speed. Even if he can't play online, no reason not to get him started. The single-player games are very good for all three MOH, and will give him the skills to be able to play reasonably well once he gets the faster connection.

I tried MOH on dial up, too...An unpleasant playing experience to say the least. By the way, speed is good ,but "Latency" ( low latency=Good - hi latency=Bad) can occur even on high speed connections, just like Lam has stated. A good example of how "high ping or High Latency" can be a problem even on the fastest links would be a VoIP program or service like Skype. Echo, clipping, noise are all manifestations of Latency! Latency is not always related to slow speed. Latency is a Voip and gaming killer. This is why Vonage is going down the tubes...their network imposes too much delay and too many alternate routing scenarios to offer consistent voice quality. Pvt. Michaels

Even if he can't play online, no reason not to get him started. Gave him my MOHAA game already.
