Originally as a means of expanding my hard drive capacity while trying to keep fans circulating air I had put 2 of these fanless enclosures in my 5 1/2 bays they did the job for 2 of my SATA drives but due to their size still took up 3 bays. I did some research and found a new unit to play with. I was very impressed with the cooling and construction of this unit. Most of it is aluminum with just the face plate being plastic. The sides pop off of the rubber vibration mounts for ease for hard drive installation. A 120 mm Led fan for cooling is a plus and the face plate looks good with black or silver cases. The only real problem I can see if you desire one of these..is your case style. Mine is a Chenming 601 AE, 5 1/2" bays use a rail system for mounting..nice easy install of this product, however, if you have one of those cases that has the tabs for CD/DVD roms to sit while you screw it in to place..this will be a problem. You will either have to bend every tab over or empty your case and Dremel them off. Pro's Easy installation of HD's All aluminum..acts as a heatsink 120 mm cooling fan Rubber Vibration mounts Con's have to have a case that can utilize it. the actual part number of this unit is STB-3T4-E3-GP from what I can find there is approximately 3 versions..2 internal and this being the only external face plated..so unless you have a mesh front like Lam's and Vin's case..you need this revision.
