LOL, and I answered honestly: I think I'll turn the a/c a bit cooler tonight, and have an extra piece of steak with sauteed mushrooms, before I turn in tonight.

5.2 for me. But I am sure with more practice I can lower that.

You know, that statement on that piggie site says to click on the "prof." "to see the science behind the calculator." That just reminds me of the old Wizard of Oz's "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

13.5 for me. So far I have the best ratio to my actual age. 13.5/19 Hey, you win the prize, congratulations. We're all sooooooo envious. But did you notice that's how MUCH LONGER those idiots think you SHOULD be ALLOWED to live from this point forward, and they think I should have died already, at age 1.4? These guys are worse than animal lovers, who put the comfort and survival of an animal, any animal, ahead of a human with a soul--these guys want to eliminate humans altogether (except for themselves and a few chosen FAITHFUL) from the earth! What gall! What stupidity! It's the same mindset that says America is horrible and to blame for the world's problems, except taken to new heights with hatred against humanity as a whole. Well, the fact is, humans and whatever they do are entirely part of nature and have just as much right to be here and do whatever they want as any animal, plant, or rock (actually more, since they are the only ones here with sapience and souls)! I think I'll go to Wendy's in my SUV for a burger now.

From what I gathered from that quiz, the number was a representation of how well you use the earths resources. I can see why you think that red, but they do not think you should just plain die. They are trying to open peoples eyes to show them how many resources they are actually taking up. Because a lot of people don't realize the impact of the little things. What they want you to do is try and raise that number, not keel over and die. I don't want to get into another global warming argument, because the last one did not go to well and this one is already turning. But, because of my opinion on that matter, I think this is a good thing. It is a more creative way to get peoples attention. People don't want to be lectured about GW, but if they can take a fun quiz online it makes it more fun, and they will remember the number they got and try and raise it.
Red, and everyone else, let me ask you a question and answer honestly. I'm not poking fun, or trying to offend, I am genuinly interested in the answer.
Aside from global warming, assume you guys are completely correct and there is obsolutely no threat. Wouldn't you guys like to spend less money on more fuel efficient cars, trucks and motorcycles? And less money on renewable resources? The technology for both is already available. I have my 13.5 because of that reason. I have a fuel efficient car because gas is sky rocketing, it is also a bonus for me that I am using less energy because of my position on GW.
But wouldn't you guys like to drive a Ford f150 with 30mpg, instead of 18ish? The technology is there, but people don't want to invest in it because then they think they are accepting GW as inevitable. That does not have to be the case, you can save money by conforming to the "green" energy, but still have your opinion on GW.
Just a thought, answer honestly because I have wondered this.

Wouldn't you guys like to spend less money on more fuel efficient cars, trucks and motorcycles? And less money on renewable resources? The technology for both is already available. Let me answer that with another question. Let's say you have the magic power to immediately do one of two things. You can either double the milage of every vehicle on earth (planes, trains, automobiles), OR you can cut in half the price of oil. Which would you choose? Which would be more beneficial to mankind?

Actually BOTH would most benefit mankind and their collective wallets. But in the long term, manufacturing vehicles with greater fuel efficiency would be the route to take becasue technology is not limited over time whereas oil will eventually run out.
Oh... and I am not suprised that you answered with a question versus an answer...

The answer is NO. I want cheaper oil, not more effecient vehicles. The money and effort put into getting a few more MPG is wasted (not to mention the huge enviromental damage caused by manufacturing the batteries for hybrids). Only a small percentage of oil becomes gasoline. Most of it becomes plastics and lubricants. Reducing the cost of oil would have huge benefits in all industries, including encouraging people to find new uses for oil that we haven't thought of yet.
That's the problem. These people want to conserve, cut back, reduce, roll back, etc. our economy and way of life instead of trying to GROW it. We've got to be the only society in all of human history stupid enough to want to STOP advancement.
We will NOT run out of oil! There are oil fields here in the United States alone that can supply the whole planet for hundreds of years. That little puddle they have in the Middle East is nothing compared to the reserves in Russia, Canada, US, South America, etc. We just need to drill for our own oil. We might as well get some use out of it, Mexico is slant drilling under the US to tap into our oil and then sell it back to us.

But in the long term, manufacturing vehicles with greater fuel efficiency would be the route to take becasue technology is not limited over time whereas oil will eventually run out. Exactly what my answer would have been. America actually has some of the cheapest oil in the world. Europe is paying about 3.60 a liter, or about 11-12 per gallon. There really isn't a solution for halving the oil prices, but the technology for doubling, even tripling gas mileage is here and in full working order. So by buying a Prius we effectively double or triple our gas mileage, therefore cutting gas prices by the same amount. And if the technology was used in trucks and SUVs, people can still drive their trucks and do it cheaply.

I personally will never own a Prius. I live in an area where a truck is necessary. But I would like to see trucks with both the current level of power and MPGs in the upper 20s to mid 30s. I can be done.
