The Dark Knight (Movie Critique) NO SPOILERS

I finally got into one of the sold out shows of the Dark Knight. Every theater around here has sold out every showing since it opened. Now I see why!

This is an amazing movie! One of the very best of all time. Incredible effects, intense characters, and a very interesting story. You will not be able to predict what comes next!

If at all possible, see it in IMAX. Its definately worth the extra expense and long lines.

Everything you've heard about Heath Ledger as the Joker is true. He makes Jack Nicholson's Joker look like a kid acting in a High School play.

WOW! That is a bold statement. I look forwrd to seeing it.

I know! I heard people say things like that and thought it was a wild exageration, Nicholson defined the Joker character! But after seeing the movie, I have to agree.

I want to see this movie, my son is not sure. Is this a movie for an 8 year old? From what I have heard it's not. Maybe I'll have to go after he goes to bed. LOL

saw it the other night with the Col. we both really enjoyed it. it's very action packed. for an 8 yr. old though i'm not sure.

It was very good, but the body count has to be in the 1000's (the vast majority are innocents, at that!), and the Joker is terrifying in that he is just purely evil and capricious in being so, and it's a long movie (about 2.5 hrs). Not for an 8 yr. old unless he has the maturity of a typical 15 yr. old, in my opinion.



After a significant number of you have seen it, I'd like to discuss some of the liberal politically-correct themes in the movie that made it less than satisfying for me.

I'd have to agree that this movie isn't for children. It may technically only warrant a PG-13, but it involves very intense moral and character issues that are going to take some maturity to make sense of. Many of the scenes encourage you to imagine yourself in those situations and think about how you would respond.

But not being a parent myself, I don't know if an 8 yr. old would see it as anything more than just eye-candy and cool explosions.

I liked the fact that a large part of the movie is in daylight, outside in a normal looking city. They've gotten away from the surreal architecture shown in the previous movies and fewer of the stunts are outrageously impossible. This movie has a much "realer" feel to it.

most of the city shots were here in b.c. vancouver and new west minster. the col. and i kept picking out spots that we frequent.

I just got back from seeing it in IMAX again! Its still great!
