Anybody know anyone with a serious WOW addiction? Do you guys think that a gaming addiction is as "real" an addiction as drugs, etc.? Apparently, many people have seriously screwed up their lives playing it excessively.
Here's a WOW suport site. Some of the comments show a very destructive effect on families.

My son is 17 years old. Three years ago he began high school and he has extremely tiny ticks due to tourettes. He was a wonderful student and NEVER missed a day of school. One day he came home, got on the computer, began WoW and he has now thrown three years of his life away. I'm sure something happened at school and he told his sister that kids picked on him so I have no doubt this was his way to feel on top. With the coaxing and threatening of my husband and myself, he graduated one year early from a private school. Never did homework or actually learned a thing. Prior to this, he was a straight A student. He enrolled in college, again with us coaxing him, and decided he didn't want to do that either. He lives with his sister who has a very active life. She invites him everywhere.. All he says is NO. Never leaves his room. Sleeps during the day and up all night. Throwing his life away. If anyone can help or advise, PLEASE do so. This is so out of control. I'm afraid if I take his game away he'll commit suicide, seriously. Please help !!!
My husband started playing this game two years ago. He lost a quarter million dollar a year business to it, and another job since. I spend every weekend alone and most crying.
Our daughters hate him now, the one who does not live at home anymore will not visit because she is so angry that I won't leave him. He lives in his office, this man who used to actually hang his shirts by color goes entire weekends without showering.
I have a choice, leave him and start my life over, lose all the dreams we made together, or stay here and probably end up committing suicide.
I hate the Blizzard people. I hate them. Couldn't we put together some kind of class-action lawsuit?
