Never ask what kind of computer a person uses--if it's a Mac, he'll say; if not, why embarrass him?

Lamron alluded to this recently in the shoutbox (putting the Mac OS onto your pc's), and here's some news in that regard, and at least one comment. If it works for you and you have the hardware already, it's less than $200 (supposedly) for the ? dohickey, and the hardware is supposedly about $800 if you don't have a hot enough pc to handle the Mac requirements (as I understand it). www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2084385/postsReview: EFiX Dongle Perfectly Transforms PC to Mac

Thanks but no.
Also noted in the benchmarks the PC platform hardware running Mac software, out preformed the stock Mac's. Hmmm interesting indeed. LOL

Thanks but no. Also noted in the benchmarks the PC platform hardware running Mac software, out preformed the stock Mac's. Hmmm interesting indeed. LOL Read the comments that followed, DS, it was an older Mac being compared to. But the comparisons don't really matter, whether the Hackintosh is faster or slower than a Mac. The author just loves the idea that for a whole lot less money and very little trouble (to him), he can make something which is almost a Mac. As I've said before, it's more important to me to have a matched, working, supported, aesthetically-pleasing computer than a do-it-yourself maybe-it-usually-works make-do system. But your mileage may vary.

LMAO... mute point we have gone down that road before.
For end users, who do not care how it works as long as you push the button and it works, do not care what software they pre-load with out telling you and do not care about hardware updates. Then Mac may be the way to go. However I know you can crash a Mac, my A&P professor in collage swore by Mac, but his Mac locked up all the time.. Was great fun to raz him about it.
For us that like to customize, use the newest programs, write our own programs, and do anything we wish, then PC is the box for us.
That he subverted a PC to run the Mac OS is a testament to his skill, and shows that he is an adapt programmer. However why would anyone want to run a Hackintosh? I do not get it.

DS, you're right about the Mac crashes, I used to get quite a few (though they were easy to recover from and almost never did any damage), but that was years ago (as I suspect your college days' experience was, too), when the Mac ran OS9, and it was unstable! OS X is wonderfully stable and only rarely crashes and is a joy to work with. Can anyone say BSOD or Vista?

I have not had the BSOD in a very long time, and when I do it is becausde I have a bad add on card or I tried to program something to do something it was not meant to do.
I choose not to bother with vista, I use xp pro. Very stable, I can not think of the last complete lock up I have had.
Glad the new OS for Mac is more stable for you Mac users.. Lock ups are a pain in the butt.

I agree DS, that is one of the best Mac vs Pc commercials...
