lol I have way too much stuff on my main pc too take that chance.. Hoping by the time the retail comes out I have the $$ to build a new pc anyway.
Hoping that with the new pc, and all my stuff transferred over too it, I then can put win 7 on my old one and turn it into a home network server pc.

You can install 7 on a second drive or partition and dual boot. That way you can transfer stuff over a little at a time and make sure everything works.

Sorry, I just now read the May 24 posts here. I'm guessing you found your ribbon info, but if not: windowsclient.net/wpf/wpf35/wpf-35sp1-ribbon-walkthrough.aspxPS, I'm using the latest version of Apple's browser Safari on my XP machine, and I really like it--clean, fast interface. I do not like the new FireFox v. (3.5?)--it's buggy and slow--I went back to an earlier version of FireFox (?v 3.1).

I finally figured out that "ribbon" just meant "menu tabs". I found a solution for running SpearHead. The newest Nvidia drivers included in it aren't compatible with some old games, but nHancer can be used to make it work. Firefox 3.5 is working fine for me. I don't really see any difference from 3.0. I had to makes some tweaks to userChrome and about:config to make the UI work the way I wanted, but that was all.

Yep, I got Safari, iTunes, QuickTime, and Excel (all Mac original software) on my work PC. I'd try Windows 7 rc on it, but they won't let me even upgrade to SP3, let alone try W7.

I was trying to move a partition and somehow screwed up my Master Boot Record so badly that nothing would make it boot either operating system. I've spent 6-7 hours a day for the past four days trying to get it to dual boot and recognize my backup images.
Anyway, in the process of doing this, I've had to reinstall XP and 7 many, MANY times. There sure is a big difference! With XP, I had to manually install the RAID drivers, Video drivers, Audio drivers, Ethernet drivers, and a couple of other little things before it was ready to use. With Win7, just click Install, set your time zone, and enter the license key. Then, like magic, every thing WORKS. No more messing with drivers, or setting up network connections. And the Win7 install does all of that in about a third of the time it takes to do the basic XP install.
Windows 7 is very easy to use, and fast, and compatable with both XP and Vista software. Even with the extra desktop gadgets and Aero features and transparencies, its still light on resources and should run on a pretty low-spec machine. I highly recomend getting it!

I think maybe mac sent a spy into Microsoft to sabotage the last OS.... LMAO

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE! YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED! apnews1.iwon.com//article/20090724/D99KJ4O00.htmlSoft PC sales send Microsoft profit down 29 pct There isn't much Microsoft Corp. can do to avoid what is shaping up to be a tough rest of 2009. The same grim conditions that plagued the world's largest software maker in the first six months of the calendar year - weak computer sales, frozen corporate technology budgets - may not get worse from here, but they are not going to dissipate any time soon. Microsoft is on track to release an updated operating system, Windows 7, on Oct. 22 and a new version of its Office software in the first half of the 2010 calendar year, but neither of these events are expected to reverse Microsoft's recent fortune. VS. www.businessweek.com/technology/ByteOfTheApple/blog/archives/2009/07/apple_earnings_1.htmlApple Earnings: Q3-09 Numbers Are Out Apple has reported its earnings for its third fiscal quarter, and as expected it easily topped the consensus estimates. Per-share earnings were $1.35 versus the $1.16 expected by analysts. Sales were $8.34 billion versus $8.2 billion. Gross margin was 36.3%. Net income was $1.23 billion, versus $1.07 billion a year ago. Apple sold 2.6 million Macintosh units, of which 1,754 or more than two-thirds, were MacBooks or MacBook Pros. Sales of desktop systems came in at 849,000. If my spreadsheets are correct this is just a whisker short — 8,000 units — of equaling the fourth fiscal quarter of 2008, when Apple reported its best quarterly Mac sales ever: 2,611,000 units. It is the highest level of Mac sales all year, and amounts to a 4% improvement over the year-ago quarter.

It doesn't surprise me at all that there were 2,611,000 people out there last quarter that prefer too have Mac do their thinking for them. This follows the trend of the Sheeple (sp) that continue too support the liberal left. LOL They are told what they need and don't need on their computers, and what programs will be allowed to function and which ones will not. And forget new tech gaming. That is the price they pay for the greater good of all Mac users. HEHEHE

Windows also lost a LOT of customers because of Vista. I was never going to buy another windows product after the crap I went through with Vista. Luckily Win7 has redeemed Microsoft for me.

crap or not.. a large majority of the population can not afford a Mac.. that plain and simple. Even if they had not come out with 7 I would have stuck with Windows.. can use xp.
