Never ask what kind of computer a person uses--if it's a Mac, he'll say; if not, why embarrass him?

I used Win 7 Pro today on a month-old Acer laptop (sorry, don't know any more specifics) during my training for poll work (my 9th year). It was very nice, actually. Still not as intuitive as my Mac--too many icons non-sensical, and you still Quit by the Start button, etc., etc., etc., but it was far nicer than I expected.

Win7 is easier to use than previous versions for someone who isn't familiar with Windows. Finding the right windows for changing different setttings can be the hardest part, but there's a new search tool built-in that works very well.
When you hit Start, there's a box that says "Search programs and files". You can also search windows features there too. If you type something like "show file extentions" or "change screensaver", it will show you where to go for that.
That could be very useful if you get stumped trying to figure out how to do things the Windows way. ;D

I wish they wouldn't have hidden the run cmd, it took a bit to find when I first went to use it, and as far as I know it's not possible to change the start menu to the classic expanding view as a menu. The taskbar goes classic fine. After I unpinned all junk from the taskbar, and cleaned out all the pre-installed software, I love it. My issues with it are mostly cosmetic. EDIT - Well, just fixed the not having the start menu tree win7vista.com/index.php?topic=1414.0

I don't know if this will have the answer to your specific question, but here's a site with lots of info on Win7 customization: www.sevenforums.com/
