I wasn't suprised, Ned Stark was way too nice a guy and wanted to play by honorable rules that NO ONE else is following. I knew his execution/murder was inevitable when he didn't kill the queen for her involvement in the death of the previous Hand and his son being thrown from the tower. If he had really been serious about protecting his family and the kingdom, there are SEVERAL people he should have killed a long time ago.
He was right about not wanting to send assassins after the Targaryen girl. If that hadn't happened, she never would have been able to convice Drogo to cross the river.
Maybe his son, Robb Stark, will do a better job. He seems to be making fairly good decisions, despite his lack of experience, and capturing Jamie Lannister is a very important victory. He's passionate about doing the right thing, but can swollow his pride when necessary. I was happy to see that he didn't let Jamie provoke him into hand-to-hand combat.
On a side note, "birthright" is a really stupid criteria for picking who rules a country.

Once I got over my shock at how the writer treated Bran, I was ready for about anything to happen.
I sure do like Sean Bean as an actor, but he keeps getting short-lived roles! Boromir in LOTR, e.g., when he should have been Aragorn, IMHO. At least he will forever be Richard Sharpe to me!

LOL Tyrion "The Imp" Lannister is one of my favorite characters. The actor looks like he's enjoying the role so much he has to make a conscious effort to not smile all the time.

I predicted Daenerys Targaryen was going to become an important and powerful character and manage to hatch those dragon eggs, but I was very suprised to see Khal Drogo killed off. I expected alot more out of him.
I see that Queen Lannister lost NO time replacing her brother Jaime with her cousin Lancel Lannister. I guess someone has to keep her bed warm!
I was happy to see Sansa Stark try to push Prince/King Joffrey off the bridge. Maybe she's growing out of being a whiney little brat, and will actually take advantage of the position she's in to do some good (like killing Lannisters!).

Well, Lam, unless you read the books (and they're all on reserve for weeks at my local libraries), you have to wait until Spring 2012 for Season 2 on HBO!
And what about...Maester Pyrcelle???.....pretending to be lame and humpbacked, when he's doing it with whores and exercising and everything!?!?!?

was he in lord of the rings also?

So after what you said I didn't see, I have to agree, he died too early! I thought he would be a main character for the series! ALSO, IMO, so did Jason Momoa from Stargate Atlantis...the one that said "Crown for king" and dumped liquid gold on the guys head, but they killed him off too! I generally don't recognize actors by name I'm not familiar with, or if I am for that matter. This is where Bruce Campbell name comes in from his movies...I didn't watch Burn notice the first time for the SHOW!!! I watched it for Bruce Campbell!!! What I mean by that is if a kid 20 years younger than me is a total scifi freak and knows everything about stargate and burn notice actors...knows more about their real names than I'm sure I do know about who Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner are and be like Lindsay who, and OH, Lindsay, yeah, Lindsay Lohan, I know her.  Are they planning an all star cast or something? I mean, I didn't even recognize Sharpe, but if they keep killing off good actors, are they going to replace them with such said good actors? |
