But isn't the basic theme of the movie that the evil government and evil military used the men and the picture to trick Americans into supporting a failing and unpopular war?

But it DID happen and deserves to be told ! You also get perspective from BOTH sides . You deserve to know what the gov.and military did, as well as knowing the views and feeling of the men that were pawns in the scheme . That being said , it was very well done . Again I still say it's a MUST for WWII history buffs ! EDIT : If your looking for the " happily ever after" you won't find it here .

Well is it about time there was a WWII movie that was close to factual events. Windtalkers was a good movie, but terribly inaccurate factually.

I was stoked when I first saw the trailer. I'm definitely going to see this one on the big screen.

My point was, just what, 2 weeks from an important election, this anti-government, anti-military film is released? A coincidence? I think not, and I won't put any of my money into it at this point.

Windtalkers was a good movie, but terribly inaccurate factually. but i understand saving private Ryan was accurate .according 2 vets that were at d-day and at that particular beach head www.historyinfilm.com/ryan this site gives u the info on the real life brothers 2 of which were killed during d-day at Omaha beach.some of the d-day vets were in tears over how accurate the opening invasion of Omaha beach was at a special showing just for them before it opened for the public.
