Red, That is him. Does it say who posted it there? I have posted there myself but I do not recall putting that post there? I am no longer an Ancestry.com member as I exhausted all of their resources. As to contacting AZ vital statistics... I did that but they found nothing. It looks like the posting is from the Bales family tree thread there. If that's you, then I've done nothing but tell you what you already know/suspect. You'd have to become a member there again to go further with it (I'm not a member). If the SS Administration can't help, the only other agency that might have a last known address might be the Treasury Dept. (IRS) but I think their info is not public record; you could ask your United States Senator (Go Fred! You gots to love Tennesseans! Well, except perhaps those who grew up in Washington, DC hotel rooms and invented the internet!) to help, perhaps. Or maybe one of those paid internet public records searches might give a lead. I'm out of ideas for you! Good luck.

We do think somewhat alike I actually called the IRS to possibly track his whereabouts after the war. It seems that their records only go back so many years before being destroyed. The helpful (shocking) IRS employee I spoke with told me that any records for 1968 and older would have long been destroyed. Yet another dead end
