Curse you Red Rock!
I'm glad that self-control got the better of you, and you didn't say "I told you so" yet again.

Hey, Silly! My grandpa was a carpenter and so was my dad. He's forever pointing out places all over town where "I hung the doors in that building, and I put in the stairs over there, and I was foreman on that job, and I did the trim there" or "your grandpa did such and such in that building," etc. With his dad he built the house I was born in and that he still lives in. His favorite is finishing work, but he's retired now. He was also the carpenters union business agent and for about a dozen years for East Tennessee and the recording secretary for about 6 years when I was young. I never ever inherited any of his "handiness" and I am really sad about that!

Ole & Sven were walking down the street one day looking at the houses up and down the city blocks when Ole starts pointing at many of the houses they see when Ole says to Sven, "I musta re-roofed every udder house in dis town. Wouldn't ya tink dat people would say, There goes Ole da house-roofer?" Sven just shrugs his shoulders and Ole continues. "As a matter of fact, I musta built 30 ta 40 homes in dis here town. Wouldn't ya tink dat people would say, there goes Ole the house builder?" Ole looks over at Sven then looks back down at his feet and mutters under his breath, "but you sleep with one goat....." Wow, lots of tree-killers in your family Red. I wouldn't be so hard on yourself about not possessing certain aptitudes that some might figure should have been passed down to the following generations. You chose the smarter path. And yes, carpenters are in constant need of the feeling of being greatly appreciated and respected by pointing out each and every little project they did. It kinda goes with the vocation. (guilty here, I catch myself doing that sometimes, DOH!) To be honest with you, I have no idea where I received my talents from. My Granddads were a farmer and a hardware store owner. My Father couldn't swing a hammer without damaging either the item he was trying to fasten or his finger, which ever came first. My Brother, the Civil Engineer, doesn't have much aptitude in using any tools what-so-ever. Getting back to "The smarter path" that you took. I pretty much taught myself most of what I know by watching others, mainly so I could save money by doing things myself. I have achieved that plus much more. Now I can save other people money too........which I really didn't see coming. (Cripes. had to click on ignore many times after typing out that last joke. Oh, I should mention something about LCD Monitors too, just so I can stay on topic. Funny how that happens all the time... ;D )

Well, Silly, it's like Rush says, we're not killing trees, we're turning a renewable resource into something that's either useful or a thing of beauty, whether it's a custom house, or a chair, or a baseball bat, or a novel, or a toothpick.

Well, I would answer something about the thread topic, but a) I'm not even sure what resolution refers to, as opposed to screen size, and b) I don't know what "native" means in this regard, whether it's the same as default, etc., and how even to know what native is, and c) I don't know why I would want to go non-native. Reading the posts through doesn't really help me much. But it's more fun to talk about dead wood (Algore).

When I bought this computer and the product-matching monitor, (I omitted the name for DS), I was instructed to set the resolution setting to the maximum sumthing sumthing sumthing resolution. When I did that, it froze the monitor. The next time I tried that setting, it not only froze the computer but locked it up with the bad visual settings. Usually when the new resolution setting doesn't work, the settings should automatically revert back to the last known setting but not in this case. Another long-distance call to.... er, that company again to help me get my brand new, no other software installed on it yet, computer unstuck. How can Al Gore be a Co-winner of the Nobel-Peace-Prize? Isn't that going against the rules letting the founder/inventor of the Peace Prize In the running?
