NVIDIA Geoforce 8800GTS driver issues

I am hoping that someone reading the forums can point me in the right direction. I, against my better judgment, purchased the NVIDIA Geoforce 8800GTS 640MB SLI vid card. I say against my better judgment because every time I have ever strayed away from ATI cards I seem to end up with problems. But since I purchased the NVIDIA MB I thought it would work well with the vid card.

The card seems to be an excellent piece of hardware, but I have having intermittent issues with the driver. My MOH will simply "lock up" for no apparent reason. It only happens when playing MOH. Generally I can play for 1-3 minutes and I lock up. After a few mins I get an error telling me that my vid driver has stopped working properly. It is driving me insane as I cannot determine why it works just fine for weeks and then all of the sudden starts locking up again.

DS suggested that I try the Omega drivers. I DL the latest one, but it doesn't support my card.

I also DL the newest NVIDIA driver (from 11/07/07. The problem isn't any different.

I think I need to find a way to "scrub" my registry of NVIDIA video drovers. Perhaps parts of some of the many I have installed are still in there?

Any thoughts?

I have used this program with good luck in the past..just make sure you do not scrub your M/B drivers...this is also my first Nvidia card in many years..but I have no issues running the current drivers..but I have the 8600GT XXX..I have heard of Modded Nvidia drivers besides Omega..when I remember what and where I will post them

update..I googled it and you are not the only one...apparently MOH works but all the expansions seem to crash...I'll look into it more..

basically they are saying create a profile in nhancer and it should launch...one other thing I read that if your MOHAA works...rename the spearhead launcher to it and try...I dunno...will see if I can find more out.

vinny.. did you dl the program at omega to scrub your system of the nvidia files and drivers.. you need to do that first before installing his modded drivers... just an idea..

Mar... thx for the advice. I rad the thread you posted... odd problem indeed. I also DL the scrub. I went ahead and deleted the MB and display drivers. I will reinstall the MB drivers and then the Omega driver again. The nhancer would not install for me. I got an error message that says it cannot be installed on systems with a .NET framework of less than 2.0. This is something that I have no idea how to respond to.

The odd thing is that it is an intermittent problem. For the last month or so I have had no issues and today it all starts failing.

earlier today in running tests to determine cause I have discovered that if I run the game in safe mode I do not have the issue. That supports my belief that it is the display driver.

After i do the reinstall of the drivers maybe all will be resolved.

You have to run windows update to get .NET framework 3.1. Unless you have vista... I don't know about that. But WinXP has .NET 3.1. Thats been out for months. You must never update.

I have windows set to update itself every night... Ill do a manual update now. THANKS!

Mar & DS... I scrubbed the registry and planned reinstalling Omega - then I remembered that Omega doesnt support my card. So I DL the newest NVIDIA drivers (released this month) and all seems fine now.

If it messes up again I'll install the nhancer from the post you found Mar.

keep checking the omega site in the future... he is always writing new drivers as new vid cards hit the market..

well... nothing has worked. I even installed nHancer. Either I am not using it correctly or it doesn't resolve the issue either.

Thanks Mar... I opened the .xml file referenced and made that change. Now the game tries to start and I am getting another error stating that "Medal of Honor requires a video card with multitexturing capability"

I think I should format the drive, reinstall MOH witht he quick fix, and NOT update my vid drivers to the most current. This problem did not exist with my hardware until I installed the latest video drivers.

Scratch that Mar... after the change to the .XML file, running nHancer, and a reboot all seems fixed. What amazes me is that the texture quality of the game now is simply amazing! I can see further in the distance than ever before, smoke and other effects look real... I can even see bullets glint off whatever they hit. Turd came in and we played awhile with no lock ups or any other issues. I am crossing everything I have to hope it remains like this! Thanks to all for all the help.
