How funny, Lamron. And just how many lumps (of coal from Santa, and injury lumps from your fights) did you receive over your "formative" years?
My earliest Christmas memories are of my obvious Dad's voice calling out from a back room of the house and pretending to be Santa HO-HO-HO'ing after "delivering" presents. I don't think I ever really believed, it just didn't make any sense and there was never any proof that I saw. Certainly the presents I got "from Santa" didn't match the hype, and the best presents I did get were openly known to be presents from my aunt and grandparents, which didn't help Santa's cause out any, either. I still remember my own kids, having that discussion with them one day, when they were saying, "Santa really doesn't exist?" (Their mom pushed the idea, including even using different wrapping paper for the gifts "from Santa," but I never pushed the Santa thing with them.). When I said, no, all those presents were from people who love you, including your hard working dad, they answered something to the effect of, "Well, we wondered, the presents were always exactly what we wanted and had been talking to you about, and they weren't those stupid hand-made crafty things we saw on the tv shows about the North Pole!"

I have encouraged my daughter (now 14) to believe in Santa. i have expressed that Santa is the spirit of Christmas and giving of one's self. In the past the man in the big red suit was thought to be real as most children. She began to really question it about two years ago. I simply told her that if she stopped believing in Santa that their would no longer be gifts from him. I also explained that the traditional cleaning of the toy box made her a Santa to all those children that the charity house helps out. Also as a point of interest here is that if you are located near a military installation most have a Christmas house that you can donate new or slightly used items. this items are then given free to needy soldiers families. It is a great cause and the items are not sold as they are in many other charities.

I wish I lived close to a base, I would put some stuff in their box.. I appreciate what those families are giving up for my freedoms..
Closest I can come is the Marines' Toys for Tots program.. and have Heavily donated to that box at wal mart this year and in years past..
God bless them all. Merry Xmas.
