Here it is, maybe you've seen it already, but it's the first glimpse I've seen of it, the 2009 Corvette (courtesy Rich Galen, www.mullings.com/dr_12-21-07.htm ) : PS, His catchy caption is the one about congressional CAFE standards (google it).

Thanks, RedRock
As a hard core car guy & red blooded American...I am truly proud of the new Corvette. Even the current Z06 is one of only a handful of supercars and costs 50-100 % (or more) less than the Euro stuff.
In an age where Detroit can really never recover from pensions, health care, and union contracts of the past....you gotta love this effort.
I've had two Vettes in my history...I urge all car guys to own at least one while they are on God's green earth.

Mid to late 70's Vette's may be the best bargains right now. Rather than finding a pristine original or restored one, the cheapest route for a car-noob is finding a project that has been abandoned. A straight framed, complete car is all you need. Paint condition, mechnical condition, etc is not all that important.
EVERYTHING is available in good used or repro. Although NO big blocks (427s/454s) were offered in them after 1973 or 4, a big block will in fact bolt right in the chassis. So a crate motor will work. 327s went away after 1968. They were 2 bolt main bearing motors. The stronger 350s had 4 bolt mains and have become the backbone of the Chevy hotrod aftermarket; and of course will bolt right into the chassis of the mid to late 70s Vettes.
Throw Mom's minivan into the driveway and make room for the project...LOL You guys get me going on cars and I can't shut up....!!!! Regards The Pvt.

can you modify the chassis to fit the 327? It is one of the few chevy motors that I like.

DS,
The 327 is only one iteration of the ubiquitous "small block" Chevy. It is a slightly bored and stroked 283 (as offered in 1957). Other iterations are: 265, 302 (originally the first Z28), 307, 305, 400 (externally balanced).
ANY small block block from 1958-on ( the year they started using cast - in engine mounting bosses ) on the side of the block will bolt into the above mentioned Vette chassis; this would include the 327.
No modification would be necessary, but simply put... a 350 would be a better choice for resale value & performance. Original 327 parts will cost more due to the restorers needing them to do authentic "numbers matching" restorations. A 4 bolt main 350 will be stronger & faster than a 327; but externally they will look virtually identical.

thanks for the info pvt..
I just have never had good luck with the 350.. I did like the 302.. Had one of those in a 1980 camero berlinetta (sp) that lil short stroker would wind up nice and haul some a$$.. Bought that car for 1000 bucks .. had the motor redone changed cam, heads, headers, carb, new transmition, 4:11 rear end. quick silver slam shift.. all the dash goodies.. would do 12's to 13's in the quarter when I got done with it.
did not use it for a street car.
got older and wiser (and poorer lol) and sold the thing for a nice profit.
ahhhh the memories..
