MOH is a pretty well designed game that is still fun many years after being released. I know lots of people move on to the newer games, but still come back to MOH.
What do newer games have that MOH doesn't have? Obviously, new game will have better graphics, but it takes more than eye-candy to make a game fun.
I'm looking for suggestions for features that you enjoy in the newer games that I might be able to implement in some way to "freshen up" MOH. As old as it is, its not dead yet!

There isn't anyway to white out the screen for one player, so a flashbang isn't possible. But I might be able to fake a stun grenade. I could randomly jiggle the view for that player and severely slow down his movement speed. That would give basically the same effect. I'll have to play around with it a little.

I wish there was a way to change weapons faster.

That would be cool, would be like the stun nades, they do not blind you much but slow ya way down.
I am finding that people are enjoying the "sticky nades" from our sci fi mod. Do not know if MOH can duplicate that effect, basically turning them into sticky proxy mines.
Just a idea.

Sticky nades in COD:UO and 2 are done by pulling the pin and then bashing with them instead of throwing them. The fuse can be short or long, set by the modder. Stickynading an unsuspecting enemy, instead of simply outright bashing him, is fun, cuz then he runs around with a ticking nade on himself (which sometimes is visible in his field of view) knowing he's gonna die and can do nothing but try to get near the stickynader to take him out too! Hilarious. Or, they can be affixed to a wall as you run away from a pursuer and it goes off and gets the pursuer unexpectedly, sort of like Lam does with prox mines if you're chasing him. I tried this with RE's, and you can set the RE on someone else, but when he moves away, the RE stays fixed in air where he used to be--actually a cool technique for team, to set airburst fixed RE's away from other objects, so they're not expected to be where they are.

Sure wish MOH would allow prone position, too.

Yes, the prone position is really a huge plus in COD.
I use it a lot when I play possum. My enemy runs right over the top of me, thinking I am deceased, and then I pop up right behind them and stun-nade their butts. ;D

I wish there was a way to change weapons faster. You mean the time it takes for the animation to lower the old and raise the new? I can make it skip the lower animation to speed that up. The sniper rifles are already set up this way. Switching from them to something else is faster. I originally did that so that snipers could switch to pistols faster for self-defense, but I find it works very well for popping off a quick portamort shot. Sticky grenades would be possible. I could make them time fused grenades that stick on impact then detonate after a delay. Since we already have proximity mines, I would think that the time delay would be better than proximity sensed. Otherwise, I think we would end up with an annoying number of these scattered around. Since we already have grenades, knives, and RE in the same slot, adding another seperate grenade type might make it too slow to switch to. The best option would make the new type the right-click for the normal grenades. Which means that we could have stun grenades OR sticky grenades, but its not really practical to have both. Prone has been attempted for MOH, but not successfully. It is possible to use prone animations, but your view height is hard coded in the game and cannot be changed. So you would be prone with a crouched view height. This would allow you to see and shoot things from behind low cover, while being completely hidden. Also, prone players would appear to be "sharking" to anyone who didn't have the client file, and you'd have to remove the client file before visiting any other server. I use it a lot when I play possum. My enemy runs right over the top of me, thinking I am deceased, and then I pop up right behind them and stun-nade their butts. ;D GRRRRR! that's very annoying, and one of the things I don't like about COD!

LOL Lam. He gets me with the possum trick all the time. I have learned to put a round into every suspected corpse I come across or knife it as I run across.
Oh Oh Oh.. Can we have last stand? hehe

I think that it is generally the fact that MOH is WWII... the success of COD4 and other games are generally modern conflict. two other things that make people want that game is promotions and unlockables. another thing would be customizable weapons and weapon sets. people like lots of choices, and earning more choices with kills and stuff like that... promotions, weapon set choices, weapon customization, and modern conflict are some of the real attractive features with current FPS games... going to be hard if not downright impossible to make a weapon set system for MOH. I looked around, and in this file is the closest thing to a promotion system I have seen: medalofhonor.filefront.com/file/ROCK_Realism;92156but this is an AA file. not compatible with SH. but there is a basis for a promotion mod. weapon customization... the MOH Modern Conflict mod looks like it is going to have something like it: medalofhonor.filefront.com/news/MoHMC_Mercenaries_Announced;39092well... those are my ideas on why COD4 and other fps games attract a lot more people, modern conflict and more features... the aim-down sights, sprint, possibly even that maps are some of the features that really make people like other FPS games...

It would be cool to be able to throw a nade with the push of a button like in COD4. I have my buttons on the side of my mouse for flash and nades in COD, and I always find myself mashing on them to throw a nade only to realize its MoH and then its too late.
