Custom Loadout Button Instructions

NEW: Custom Loadout button on Loadout Menu.

Each Loadout Slot will remember:

- Primary Weapon and attachments.
- Secondary Weapon and attachments
- Lethal Device
- Tactical Device
- All Perks
- Killstreak

Basically, everything you have a choice on will be saved in that slot.



To avoid duplicating the entire menu for a special loadout building section, the existing menu is used to create the loadout and then save it.

FIRST: choose everything you want, as you normally would before playing.

SECOND: open the Custom Loadout popup and select "Save" next to the slot you want to use.

THIRD: click the pencil icon to rename the slot to whatever you want. Click the pencil icon again when done.

REPEAT: the first, second, and third steps for each Loadout you want to save.


After creating and saving your Custom Loadouts, at any time you can open the menu and click on the slot name and your current loadout will be changed to the saved one.

This new feature will make it very quick and convenient to pick your favorite loadouts, HOWEVER my personal recommendation would be to not just use these five setups all the time and ignore the other options.  Your game will greatly improve if you constantly switch and try different loadouts.  There are MILLIONS of different possible arrangements of the options, the one that's best for you is probably one you haven't tried yet!

Important Notes:

This feature requires saving info to the player's computer and retrieving it later.
It worked great in testing, but it is still somewhat experimental. No refunds will be issued!

The data saving method I'm using only works with integers. Meaning, it saves the number of the location on the menu where the option was, not the actual name of the weapon. What this means to you is that any time I make a significant change to the Loadout menu that would add/subtract/replace an option, the saved data will be wrong. The data may even point to an option that is no longer available at all, leaving you to spawn with no weapon, or even crash the server.

The fail-safe for these problems is a "reset-all-to-default" script that checks to see if the menu version number when you saved your options is the same as the menu version currently being used.



- If it has been working for you and you join the server one day and find that all of your Custom Loadouts (including the names you've set for them) were reset to default, this is NOT a bug. It was necessary because of something I've changed. Unfortunately, you'll have to set and save all of the slots again. You may want to look around to see if whatever I changed is something you now want!

- If your saved Custom Loadouts are lost or reset between map changes, this IS a bug. Please report it to me. Its probably related to folder/file write permissions on your computer.

Recent updates and additions have made it necessary to reset the custom loadouts system. You'll need to resave your favorite loadouts.

The Custom Loadout system has been updated. It now saves Spectre and XPR50 info correctly. Everything was reset, so you'll have to resave everything

The Custom Loadout system has been updated. Every time I make a major change to the Loadout Menu, I have to update the way the info is saved/retrieved. I think everything works again, but with millions of possible combinations, I obviously can't exhaustively test it. Let me know if you find any problems.

As always when I update this script, all previously saved loadouts are reset.

The Custom Loadout system is temporarily disabled. I've make several changes to the menu system recently and haven't gotten to reworking the script that saves the data.

When it becomes available again, you will have to reset all your saved loadouts.

Yes, the Loadout menu is extremely complicated and the Custom Loadout system has to convert all of your settings to numerical data and then save them to your computer. Then when you select a class, the data is retrieved and converted back to what the menu can use and all those choices are forced to your menu.

Its tricky to get it to work at all, and whenever I add/remove things from the menu it requires reworking the saving/retrieving system.

I don't use the Custom Loadout option myself, I built it by request. So its not usually my highest priority.


When I get around to fixing it, I'm going to try to rewrite it to make it more universal, so its less work in the future to make changes.

The script file that runs the backend of the Loadout Menu was not designed to store anything more than your current selection. Whenever there was a "special case" selection with unusual options/restrictions I added additional variables to keep track of it. Now I have reworked it to be more efficient and use several less variables. This simplifies storing/retrieving the data.

The Custom Loadout function is working again. Obviously, I cant test all of the several million possible combinations, but I think I have everything working as it should.

Major changes to the Loadout Menu will still erase all of your saved classes, but the improved handler will make it easier/faster for me to keep it up to date.
