Lamron, I really like the idea of tracking game stats and posting them here on the site. I think that would be cool. Are you working on that? If so, how's it going?

I have been working on getting player stats, but its harder than it should be to make it work. I've been wanting them for a while but here is what it takes:
1) Server has to be set to log EVERYTHING. This means hundreds of megs per day of useless error messages. And I can't use the server console by directly typing into the server computer. Everything has to be handled thru RCON. Not a real problem, but sometimes inconvient.
2) Parsing program has to sort through the log and extract kill messages. It then creates a database of player info.
3) Player info database has to be converted to a format that can be displayed on the website.
The programs that handle this require a greater understanding of PHP and HTML code than I have. And even when I do figure it out, it will never log kills not caused by weapons. (bombs and the exploding bridge in Bazaar, for example)
Still, I would really like to have them. Haven't given up yet.

Man, that sucks! Is there no easier way to do it? I've seen several servers that claim to track stats...I guess they are all suffering through the same process?

I think Lamron got enough to do now. With out tracking stats. We get simple ones at the end the end of each game, And we all can tell the name that will be at the top by those, (LOL). Yea! Desmo you,ll be second, hench the 2.... (LOL).....

Hmm...you are certainly right. Lamron actually brought the idea up, I was just following up on it. I can see how my asking about stat tracking could make me appear to be a glory seeker, or that I'm trying to rub something in. That is certainly not my intent, and I hope I didn't make you feel that way.

Just kidding. It is being worked on. FrozenAngel made a batch file for me (Thankyou!) that will once a day shut down the server and copy the log to another location. Then it restarts the server. Server resets at 6am every day now. Since no civilized person is ever awake a 6am, it shouldn't interupt game play. This means that the info needed for stat tracking is being saved now. Now with that done, next step is to figure out how to extract the kill info from the log.

Getting closer! I now have successfully set it up so that these steps happen automatically every day (6:00am):
-Shut down server -Convert logfile to Allied Assualt format. (parser can't read SH...Grrrr) -Move file and rename (so it won't overwrite old file) -Run all daily logfiles thru parser to extract kill info. -Convert result to HTML pages so it can be seen on website. -Restart server
Still working on: Testing method to automatically upload HTML pages from server computer to Webpage.
The website has the stats available to view NOW. The stats may be a little out of date until I get the auto upload working reliably, but it is there to view. Check it out.

When stats came in, the server status went out. Fortunately, I had bookmarked it before that, so I can still see who, if anyone, is playing and on which map before I try to connect (important, 'cuz time to quit all other apps and get Breakthrough up and running is significant). Thus, I'd like to see this come back to the main menu, and perhaps a button for the sniper only server status, too. PS, my bookmark is (Macintosh OS X): file:///Users/admin/Desktop/Lamronsplayground.com%20Server%20Status.html but I don't know how to use this from within the playground website--I just open this Safari file (Mac OS web browser) directly from its hard disk image and then refresh it as needed. Don't know if that helps anyone until the option is back, but there it is.

I didn't think anyone ever looked at that page. I'll put it back in now.

I missed the 'server status' link, too. Glad to hear it is returning!
