In my mind, I'm already calling the crossbow by another name, the RMW ("real man's weapon"). I think I will need to grow some hair on my chest before I can use it effectively. TMI!!!!! I could do without the visual....LOL

Thanks again Lamron and Aigad! I still can't get over how much I like that "Bolt-shooter"!!! Hey Vin, I feel the same way about the Delistle. I can aim it perfectly at a static target and not hit it. It happens at least a couple of times every time I try to use it so I just gave up on it. Maybe it is just out of sync with me and my machine.

Unlike other weapons, the crossbow will never be "balanced". Its only real advantage is going through BPvests. Other than that its slow and difficult to use effectively against any other weapon. Its pretty much a "expert" weapon or for those who really want to challenge themselves. First let me say .... I still think it was a Fantastic job of creating, modeling ,and actually making it work ! It's a beautiful weapon and plays as well or probably better then expected . BUT! I don't think it's quite the "expert" weapon it was thought to be . It seems to be weapon of choice right now (newness),and grant it we some very good players that play here , And it seems most all of those using it have become quite proficient with it in a very short amount of time . And that's good too, knowing that it plays even better then thought during planning stages . It may even be overkill of what was thought. But, I'm not here to complain about it at all ! And am not asking for any changes ! I'm here asking for help, tips, strategies, etc. Because I feel I have no defense against it . I don't hear anything from this weapon except when I FIRE it, and when I get HIT by it . (I realize I may be the only one playing here with such extreme hearing loss ) So far, I have only found to keep moving constantly , Although, that defense is somewhat hindered by the "rectangle" in the fact that getting very close is enough for an instant kill. Help Please ! PS. I DON"T want pity for being hearing impaired, just realize ,I do let myself get SELF-frustrated sometimes .

I find it very challenging due to the fact you have to lead it...fire it in front of the person and hope they don't turn. As for the sound..I hear it release..the odd time I hear it hit an object...and I hear a thunk when it is sticking out of my chest..am not sure if I crapped myself and it hit the floor..or if it was the arrow penetrating my scaly butt. I even try and time my shots for when the snipers peek..so it is in the air before they stick their head up. If a person is immobile then it is comin straight in. There are times when i have fired at a person long range only to have the person chasing him run into the flight path. I FIND THAT VERY RUDE! I was aiming at someone else! One nite LC if we get a chance we will try a few things with it...the big thing is lead time, and patience. You did quite well the other day with it.

I don't know if these tips will help you out or not Lost, but I am finding that I am shooting through windows and doors just because someone might look out of them.
Using this weapon forces us to try and figure out which way our opponent is going, before the opponent knows themselves. lol
I like to say that "I got lucky" quite often in the game mainly because I can't believe that I got a "hit" with it either.
I did have an "OMG how the he)) did you make that shot?!?!" last night though. We were playing Sniper Field and I was up in the tree-house. Beer and Rubble were duking it out right below me so I jumped down to join in the dance. On the way down in mid-flight, I took a shot at Rubble just for the heck of it and HIT HIM. We were laughing so hard last night it was starting to hurt.
My recommendations are the same for this weapon as any other. When "doing the dance"..... try to keep your side-to-side motions irregular with as little repetition as possible. Stop in mid strafe, twice, then 3 times, then don't stop. Strafe back then a bit further instead of reversing and going the opposite way right away. Inconsistency is impossible to predict. The best the other player can hope for is to get that one lucky shot.
For "Sprayers" do not strafe back and forth right in front of them. Keep strafing in a complete circle in one direction. I found out that if I strafe back and forth, all I am doing is running through the bullets every time I change direction.
I hope this helps you out Lost ;D
By the way. When I was setting up my XFire account, one of the questions they asked was to describe my playing style. They had probably 6 definitions that you could borrow to answer with. I chose the one that said "Clueless" lol
Always keep your opponent guessing!

Lost Child, you were picking me off with the Crossbow whenever I stopped and tried to camp, and Rubble was killing me when we faced off in a 1 on 1. So my recommendations are to keep moving, and avoid the NBK's here. It is a fun weapon, but don't pick it up in a fragfest where you will meet a bashing rifle or burping smg everytime you turn a corner after spawning.

This may be a dumb or even impossible, but could you maybe give is a signature. Maybe even something as simple as the Delistle. Just a puff of smoke. this may aid all of us in finding a direction in which it was fired from.

With the DeLisle, I thought there was a tiny puff plus a brief flash. It certainly makes a sound. Actually, I think the reload is louder than the retort.
Maybe we need more flight noise for the crossbow bolts?

Is it possible to make it so that we don't have wait for the bolt/arrow to reload before changing weapons? The lack of a bash might not be so bad if we could change to machete or knives right after shooting.

The reload sequence is a scripted event that can't be stopped once started (other than by death), and it starts immediately after you fire the weapon. Also, letting you skip that would make it too easy!
If an arrow misses you, you can tell where the shooter was by the angle. Kind of like how you find a sniper by aligning the hole in a window with the bullet mark on the wall.
I may try to make the arrows in flight a little bigger so they can be seen easier.

I may try to make the arrows in flight a little bigger so they can be seen easier. If you're changing the graphic file for the bolt, could you please also add a nice sunny smiley face on the end of the bolt, so that when it comes straight at you, you could see it and get a nice warm fuzzy feeling of love as you are pierced through and spill your life blood on the ground? The reload sequence is a scripted event that can't be stopped once started (other than by death), and it starts immediately after you fire the weapon. Also, letting you skip that would make it too easy! Wasn't this an issue with the bolt rifles, that you couldn't bash until it had reloaded? But I thought you or others on other servers had found a way around that, so that you could bash before reloading. Or is it tied in to auto-reloading? Maybe a selective fire could be set up on the crossbow, single-shot versus semi-auto, if that's the issue? I'm not so sure having a bash before reload would be "too easy!", as the speed of change to knife, etc. is still going to be just as slow as with other weapons, and that hasn't helped me much in the past to switch while being attacked. In fact, when I get hit during such an encounter when I want to be switching to a cqb weapon, I get the involuntary (game-mandated) flinching and slowdown with the non-fatal hits that prevent effective switching, moving, or returning fire, anyway.
