Kids, this bike from Ducati will prove to be a fantastic motorcycle for real-world riding. www.rubbermag.com/news/0509/050919_10n.htmlPrevious Monsters were a bit underpowered for my tastes, except for the S4R, which was a bit of a brute and came with the expensive 4 valve maintenance schedule. The Ducati 2 valve motors are excellent, and the 1000 Dual-Spark motor in the new S2R, Multistrada DS, and 1000DS SuperSport is the finest evolution of that motor. This S2R is beautiful, delivers gobs of user-friendly power, handles like a dream, is comfortable, and has a boatload of aftermarket support (the Monster line has become a modders dream...sounds like something right up Lamron's alley!). My ultimate dream bike is still the 996, but this one makes a lot of sense and would be uber-cool!

That's a really cool looking bike. I like the naked look and radical framework design that uses the motor for most of the support. I've always thought the single-sided swingarm was the coolest.
There is one thing the modders need to get on top of soon, having all the cables zip-tied to the red frame looks like a cheap after thought. Like they designed a beautiful bike, then realized they forgot something. On a high-end bike like that, the cables should have attachment points made right onto the frame.

I just noticed this in passing from that link, Des: "1000 Dual Spark Desmo engine
When choosing the power plant that would achieve exactly right balance between the lively Monster S2R 800cc and the extreme power of the 4-valve Monster S4R, the ideal solution was the muscular 992 cc air-cooled 2-cylinder Desmodue, the Ducati 1000 Dual Spark engine, known and appreciated for its abundant torque and excellent reliability." (bold added) Soooo, just wondering, is the screen name "Desmo2" related to this bike description, somehow? I don't know what a desmo or desmondue is. I was earlier guessing that the -mo part dealt with the State of Mo.

Ducati, of course, is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer, and I am quite the Ducati aficionado. Desmodue is Italian for 'two valve,' describing the number of valves per cyclinder that particular engine design utilizes. The Ducati superbikes, such as the 916 series and the newer 999s, have a much stronger, higher strung engine that utilizes four valves per cyclinder...desmoquattro!
My motorcycle is a Ducati 900SS, a two-valver. My license plate on the bike and subsequent MoH screen name, advertise my brand loyalty and love for the sport..."desmo2!" If I ever step up to the plate and get that four-valve 996, I'll have to change both to desmo4!
So, now you know!

Cool. You like the Eye-tallion stuff, huh? Look, the lamp is from Italy, it's frah-jill-eh. See Shootsy's thread, too, about name generation. Ciao!

That's cool that Desmo2 has that on his licence plate too. I wonder if we have anyone who has put "LPmember" on their car/bike plates. I'm sure one of you has it! Let's see pictures!
