Never ask what kind of computer a person uses--if it's a Mac, he'll say; if not, why embarrass him?

check this out (and I apologize in advance for the site's misspelling of designs):
Microsoft designs the iPod package
"A fun video about the way Microsoft would design the first generation iPod box. All the comments were (apparently) said at Microsoft meetings."

That's pretty funny. Apple does a really good job with its advertising. They basically say, "don't worry about how it works or if its compatible with stuff, we'll take care of that. THIS is how you can enjoy it"

The MACs have always been more about the end user's ability to easily interact with the computer, rather than boring them with technical details and requiring memorization of complex steps. After all, MAC did invent the idea of movable "windows" and "folders", when PC users were still running all programs full screen and screwing around with confusing directory trees.
The only reason IBM PCs and Microsoft came to dominate the market is because they aggressively went after the money (business) market. When home computers became commonplace, people wanted the same OS they were used to having at work.
Whenever any market shifts significantly towards one of two competing technologies, the third-party suppliers chase the bigger marketshare, virtually ensuring the demise of "second place".
MAC is unusual in that it never died out (and may be growing), unlike other "loosers" in techno competions that are completely obsolete now.
(VHS vs. BETA vs. VIDEODISK) (Compact Disc vs. DAT) (8mm vs. VHS-C)

Got a iPod Nano today, way cool. Still think the Mac is a bit naff though Sorry Apple lovers. Anyway the Nano beats my old MP3 player anyday, the only thing is the software its all aimed at making ya buy stuff from Apple, but I got round that :-) If microsoft could do what apple has with the ipod as they have with X box vs PSP then we will have a war on and maybe the iPod/miPod (Microsofts version, notice Mr Gates the Names MY idea) would become affordable for the masses as here its WAY over priced.

(the Apple OS, that is) And as for the price, Apple products have always been more expensive, and the iPod is pricey here, too. But man, Apple products sure run smooth and fun right out of the box with minimal user invovlement for the setup! But don't overlook the way-cool FREE iTunes software for Mac and Windows, that you don't even need an iPod to enjoy--copy your own previously-owned CD's (and other imported sound files) to your hard disk, listen at will, and burn copies for your car, your office, etc. And iTunes does videos and audio programs, too (Podcasts), many of which are free, too. Yeah, Apple!
