I am very pleased with the out come on that. I was home schooled. Back when my parents decided to take me out of the public school system it was illegal in Iowa to home school your kids. We did it any way and I received a very good education. In public school I was failing miserably and did not care about it at all. As some of you know I have dyslexia, the school was happy just to dump me in special ed classes and let me play all day long not learning anything.
Once in the home school environment I learned how to over come my learning problem and achieve goals. I learned much and graduated high school a year and a half early. I thank my parents for taking responsibility to give me the education I needed.

I was home schooled starting my Freshman year. Before that I went to a private Christian school.
Homeschooling is legal and fairly easy/common here in Indiana. Probably because we have a large Amish population and they all do it.
Did you have anyone question it on job applications when they wanted to know about High School graduation?
I don't know how many times I've heard this from people who don't understand homeschooling. Most home schoolers are part of groups that get together for group activities and to share curriculum, textbooks, and resources. I was always doing stuff with either home school groups or church groups. These groups usually cover a pretty wide age range. What I learned from it was to associate and be friends with people NOT my age. In a usual structured school, you are usually only around people the same age as you.
LOL then there's the people who say "wow, home schooling must be great! you can sleep in late and do whatever you want all day!"
These people have obviously never met my parents.

I hear ya Lam,
I constantly have too explain why I have a both a High School diploma and a GED. As I said when I was home schooled it was illegal here in Iowa, so that means my diploma is not accredited. So I had to take the GED. Was not a problem.
as for sleeping in and all that LOL.. They never met my mother. Had to get a 80% or better on everything or it was redone from scratch. 10 question quiz or 10 page term paper it did not matter.

Same with me. I wasn't allowed to get a bad grade on anything. I had to do it over and over again until I got it right.
The thing I hated was the immediate punishment "at home" for things I did "at school".
On every job application I simply put that I graduated from "Redwood Christian School" (our house had redwood siding). I've never been questioned about it.

My aunt and uncle home school all of their kids. Their oldest, 14 now is going to a chirstian school by her choice. Which makes it easier on my aunt because she has 6 kids, 4 of them she home schools herself. She does group things with church families, and she doesn't allow leniency towards sleeping in, or bad grades either.
If my mom wasn't a single mother i would have been home schooled, but it was nearly impossible for her to work, go to school and school me. I ended up having a horrible time at school, some of you may recall some of my stories. I was extremely smart, so school was really boring and easy so because of that I only went 3-4 times a week and got a's and b's. I failed all of my classes though because I didn't go to school as much as was required by their rules. I ended up getting my Good Enough Degree (GED) a year before I would have graduated. I was only 17 when I got my GED, I had to get a waiver from the state to allow that.
