www.liveleak.com/view?i=52f_1217434061&p=1The typical angry ignorance speaks for itself, but what I had to laugh about is how BAD the rap itself was! I know nothing about Ludacris, so I don't know if this is typical from him, but this is really sad. He can't rhyme two words to save his life and has NO concept of rhythm. My best guess is that he was accidentaly caught on tape during a drunken rant, then someone picked a beat at random and combined them. Its pretty clear that the music wasn't being played anywhere that he could hear it.

Whoever was working the soundboard on that clip was high or something, it kept fluctuating. If this was sponsored by Ludacris, then he needed to take some of his millions to do it right. Whoever threw that together has no concept of music.

Yep that was a weak rap. As usual full of hate and ignorance. Notice the only change he talks about is "turning the white house black". No mention of issues, just blindly following and advertising for the "first black President".
All we hear about is the hope for change, we never hear how he wants to change things or how he will change things. It is just a lot of hot air to play on the publics ignorance, and not offer anything he cant actually deliver on should he be elected.
ok I will hop off my soap box now.

Rap...or hip hop... is not music at all. To have music you need two elements Rhythm & Melody.... Rap steals it's rhythm from other actual musical artists & has zero melody..hence, it is not music
Art form? Where's the talent? And, as our pal Ludicris has proven again rap is just a low brow, ignorant, hate filled form of pop culture. Pop culture ain't art.

I will listen to most any kind of music (country if you hold a gun on me), but I would rather be shot than be made to sit and listen to gangsta rap crap.

I would have to disagree with your statements Pvt. I do agree that the mainstream rap is all crap, but I listen to the stuff most people haven't heard of. I myself enjoy rap that is done with real instruments, like the Beastie Boyz and some friends I have, Heiruspecs. Heiruspecs has actually started to make it big, but they won't ever be played on the radio because they don't have a mainstream sound. Rap artists take very few samples of other songs, it has only happened a few times by a few artists which has given everybody a bad rap (no pun intended). Most rap artists create, or buy their own original beats.

In the same sense that "I don't know much about "art" but I know what I like and I don't like that "art"" (said about "art" consisting of a crucifix dipped in sheep piss, for example), yes, I do not like rap and don't consider it auditory art (music). However, after watching the movie "8 mile" about the life of a white rapper (played by Eminem), I do have an appreciation for the composition and rhyming in the insult-type rap stuff they do; I can see the "artistry" there, but it's still not art or music TO ME. However, I do like some of the Beastie Boys' stuff, agreed.
Oh, and I did hear part of the ludacris piece mentioned. It is indeed even worse than the usual garbage trotted out as "rap music."

Eminem is one of the very very few rappers that doesn't flaunt how rich they are, and how many hoes they can get and all the diamonds in their chains. He raps about real things, whether its his life (which closely relates to mine) or politics or dissing all the rappers who flaunt themselves. Eminem gets a bad name because of his harsh lyrics, but I respect him for saying what he says. And I think the rap world would be a much different and better world if there were more people like Eminem in it. I hate all the rappers talking about smoking weed and sellin weed and their sound systems and their diamonds and their cars and their money and their houses and their hoes and their guns. It gets really old really quick when EVERY rapper thinks they are the best and they have the best.
I do however think that a rap BEAT is art. If you really listen to a good beat, there are so many little things in there that make it sound good. It takes a lot of skill to put together the samples in such a way that it sounds good. It is just as hard to make a beat as it is to create something good on drums or a guitar.

To each their own.
Eminem was and is banned from my household. The lyrics concerning his mother were unforgivable and I have not heard any of his stuff that is suitable for children. This of course was my choice to make for my family and kids, and I understand that not everyone has my same beliefs. I do not think the glamorization of the gangster life is what we should be letting our kids think is cool and what they should be trying to do with their lives.

No, his lyrics are definitely not suitable for kids. I completely agree with that. He even says it in his songs that he wouldn't let Haily (His daughter) listen to him either. His lyrics are meant for mature adults who can understand and comprehend his lyrics. And his lyrics would not appeal to most republicans, or upperclass people. I was raised in a very similar situation as him, so I can relate to his lyrics.
More of my point was that rappers need to rap about real things that relate to a much larger group of people. Not necessarily with all the profanity. I used Eminem as the example because he is pretty much the only person, and definitely the only well known person, who raps about reality. In his later songs, after people got all upset about his mom, he explains and redeems himself (in my opinion) for dissin his mom the way he did.
Anyways, we all know the Eminem situation. You either love him or hate him and I don't think it is worth arguing about more than it already has.
