I have never used that version of Linux but have used Linspire in the past. What are you needing? Can you be a bit more specific?

I have never used Linux before either.
I did see a while ago that when I ordered my wife's laptop, one of the operating systems available with my order was this Linux Ubuntu.
Since I didn't know anything about Ubuntu, I chose nothing and installed my own operating system.
Let us know how it works out.

im trying to figure out detailed info on setting up wifi-radar utility. It's seems a little hard for me to grasp i guess. I can get the usb wifi to scan, but i can't connect to anything. It's just how the utilility is configured. The operating system is nice and good that it's free. It detected a wired network on it's own. I installed netstumbler under wine, but later read that wine doesn't support usb stuff yet. All in all it works great if you need an operating system with a gui, there is just alot of terminal commands to do other things. It works fantastic on the dead horse I'm beating more....lol, just trying to get it mobile. system specs compact EVO P4 2ghz, half mem was bad, currently @ 512, batt was bad, internal hd was bad, now boot through usb hd -edit- I forgot to mention that this laptop only has a cd drive and the ubuntu 8.1 iso file is 699mb so when i used the program they recomended for img file burning called infra recorder. Imagine how supprised I was to see a 700mb cd written with 732mb on the disk and it worked to install. -end edit- using belkin usb N draft wifi dongle attached to my vegetable steamer antenna array I have replaced the bbq squewer since pic was done with an L bracket.

from your screen shot, it looks like you are picking up networks. If the secured network is your own, all you should have to do is double click on it and enter the password to enter the wifi terminal.

that thing will pick up stuff all over the place depending on which way I point it ;D and yes, the secured one is mine, but the screen shot was done right after I built the thing for my machine out in the trailer. Had to come up with something that was strong enough to penetrate the metal shell of the trailer.

Last year when I built that antenna, I needed a spider anyway (the mesh ladle thing for hot oil) I thought I'd share the link and a few pics I used to explain to another guy. I'm sure you guys understand the concept. But I have yet to cut up a pringles can and slide sections over my router antennas ;D ....Although if you have woods in your back yard you hunt or camp in, this may proove and interesting bordom buster to goof around with. Was going to make one of these (extra baby bottles ya know OH, and and....I thought I mentioned something about outdoor cams at one point, but I have two outdoor cctv enclosers <--whatever, firefox dictionary must b outta date), and have since gotten ahold of some satellite dishes. Just need to make a tripod.
I was trying to find the youtube video that I talked to a guy about a cantenna beamed into the dish just as tv does...just massive wifi range!!!) note, if you find the vid, I responded and asked about range testing under the name mred...please send link if you find it, ty) . Not sure what country he was in but he was pretty helpfully and wanted to see if he upgraded anything. On an extra note, President should be aware of Canada present standing on transmission sent through the air. If you can pick it up, it should be free basically refering to satellite stuff, but...If you have any extra eyes from the front of a dish, they can go for a few bucks! Thast why the dish people wantem back. lol Asian cookware antennas....lol, you'll be here for a bit no doubt gathering ideas of all sorts ;D ....could be in the time waister section too, but hey, it's like ping pong, just a few miles apart.
Sadly no instructions for a tinfoil helmet, I wouldn't recommend standing in front of the thing for long periods...lol
I think Red should provide the nesai..nesair..nessasary ...rrrr a nice pattern cutout over a bowling ball for protection. Poor Man's WiFi www.usbwifi.orconhosting.net.nz/

That does look cool even though I'm not really good with it either. It was only a matter of time before a developer got ahold of it and started charging for it to do special stuff. I did however solve my issue temporarily... www.ngine.de/article/id/8/It works great, other than no pagefile!!! If I can get around that and make it so it will actually create one, it would be perfect. I just made an iso of my disk, then followed the instructions, come to think of it, I'm not sure I even had to put in my cd key...but could be wrong. I was only going to use it to surf and be slightly portable and play with detecting other wifi networks. If you solve the issue or play around with this, just be sure to plug the drive into the same port all the time. Since winders is so picky about which usb port you plug stuff into sometimes.
