Another indicator they didn't mention is to look for misspelled words or incorrect grammar. That's usually a sure sign that the E-Mail came from outside of the country.
If you get an action-needed message from a financial institution that you're sure is legit, still close the E-Mail and restart the browser. Go to that companies website and log in in your usual way. Any legitimate message will be show there too. Never take the link from the E-MAIL!

Yes, incorrect grammar is the #1 thing I look for. I have received some pretty convincing emails before, luckily I knew enough to know there was something wrong with them.
