I thought that female actor was Gene Rodenbery's wife.. I am almost sure of it.. And yep she played Troy's mom on TNG..
Wait a min. If we are all this knowledgeable about star trek does this make us geeky Trekies? LOL

Good research there Silly... RedRock always does the best, and lengthiest, research. Most of my research can be found on the outside of the VHS box the movie came in. LOL

Well, yes, she was Roddenberry's wife, and she inherited all his *stuff* including the right to do any new series, etc. with it. She did a lot of interviews on some of the new series as they came out, saying this is what Gene wanted, it's true to his spirit, etc., while the cash registers hummed Ka-Ching! A lot of those I just never watched, they were boring. I can't even name them all, they weren't all Star Trek. Andromeda was one, however, and it started interesting but got goofy as the writers changed and then got mystical and non-understandable as they kept changing.
And I haven't done any research at all, really, it's just all from past encounters on the internet, from reading news paper articles on the new shows, from talking to other fans, etc. Doing research would mean I'm a Trekkie, or Trekker, or Trek Person, or whatever, and I'm not. I actually figured if I said something, someone else would know the real answer or would look it up, and for the most part, that's what has happened.
If you haven't seen the movie Galaxy Quest, do so--it's a send up of the Trek world and it's fans, actors, and writers. Be sure to watch the extras, so you know why Sigourney Weaver goes from scene x to scene y and her shirt has suddenly become widely open in the meantime.

Saw new Terminator movie last night. Lots of action, not much plot. Too lazy to look it up, but was the actor (young man/late teen) that played Kyle Reece the same one who played Chekhov in the new Star Trek movie? Looked very much alike to me, and sounded alike too (less the werry heawy accent).

Good call! I didn't notice it, but you're right. Anton Yelchin plays Chekhov and Kyle Reece.
