Really, guys, give this a try. www.cbr.com/marathon-sci-fi-series-bungie/Due to work, upgraded Mac OS and new Mac, and lack of interest, I just quit playing offline and online about a year ago; the only thing I was doing was COD4 on a trusted server anyway. I did recently replay Portal 1 and started Halo:Masterchief on the Windows side (via BootCamp) through Steam, but other than portal I didn't go very far with the single player game, and I didn't even look to see if there were any online multiplayer servers going. About a week ago, though, I was cleaning out some files in my downloads folder and came across the downloads from a couple years back of Bungie's masterpiece FPS the Marathon Trilogy (from 1994 through 1996), running via an updated game engine (as I understand it, Aleph One). It has free downloads of all three games (Marathon, Marathon:Durandal, and Marathon:Infinity) for the current Mac OS and for Windows and Linux! And free. They're multilevel maps of FPS human vs. aliens/robots/clones in both colony ship and dirstside settings, lots of shooting and exploring and problem solving (for example, finding the necessary switches to throw, timed just right to make the 7 moving platforms line up so that the player can run/jump across to reach a doorway, etc.), with pretty cool weapons. The graphics do not seem backward, but of course don't have the detailed blades of grass waving (a la COD4), but once the play starts, that kind of thing doesn't matter). LAN parties can be set up for multiplayer maps, and there are probably a few servers running for it online, too, but I haven't looked. There are many scenarios and conversions that can be downloaded for additional single player or LAN fun. So, if you want something interesting and fun to do, give it a go! I love it. alephone.lhowon.org/

I just downloaded the first one. I'll play it this weekend and give it a try.

Just as an aside, I'd say start with #2, Durandal, and then go back and play #1. I have to turn up my brightness on them, too. If you need any tips on how to do it, what to do, contact me. I just this weekend learned how to use the cheat codes (I'm third of the way thru #3, Infinity). I don't cheat to win, just to enjoy the maps--some are objective maps, and you have to race to do the objectives because of low health or low oxygen, or too many baddies, and I really like to fully explore the maps and go everywhere. Sometimes that means cheating to get more health or oxygen, or get a rocket launcher or grenades in order to propel myself somewhere up or across where I can't get otherwise. Some of the levels are very tough, especially in Infinity (two back to back vacuum levels, for example). And the final level on every game is always tough, with few sad spots and few recharge areas and lots of bad guys. Just sayin'. I've always played on "normal" setting (it's hard enough!), but there are crazies out there that set it on Total Carnage and still survive!

Thanks for posting this. I have long enjoyed hunting squirrels with my Benjamin pump up 5mm (0.20 cal) pellet rifle, but it's single shot and each power shot takes 6-8 pumps (squirrels run away while I'm reloading and pumping after a miss). So I've been watching with interest the development and progression of the PCP rifles, esp. semi-auto. I do want a big bore one for hunting deer and pigs, but so far, I've been disappointed in the available options. The .50's I've seen advertised are slow to reload, don't get many shots until a recharge is needed, and have, in my opinion, too low a muzzle velocity to be used effectively for deer/pigs. The .30's seem to be a better option, but still have too low a muzzle velocity--I want them to be in the 1500+ fps range. Compare a firearm, with a 30-06 180 grain bullet at 3,000 fps. This rifle was firing, as I recall, 40-50 grain .30 cal bullets at 700 or less fps. That would be OK for bunnies and squirrels, but not for deer/pigs, especially over 50 yards. So I'll keep watching and waiting. These do look like fun for plinking, however, just pricey for that. I don't know what this video means by .30 cal "slugs" that work in this gun, instead of simple .30 cal "pellets." I'll have to look that up with the pellet manufacturer--perhaps they are more solid, and not skirted or hollow-point. I'm not certain that saying ammo is subsonic means it won't be loud and will be good for backyards--subsonic just means really that it won't create a sonic boom downrange, but the firing noise could still be quite loud from and near the gun. However, I don't have any experience with subsonic ammo, other than my Benjamin at 7-800 fps, and that makes a loud retort, less than .22 LR ammo, but still a loud sharp pop. See this article, for example: www.fieldandstream.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-subsonic-cartridges/Instead, I'm in the process of beginning to shop for and acquire a .22LR suppressor. I'll need to research adapter technologies to use on a non-threaded barrel (for my Ruger 10-22, unless I buy a threaded barrel), but I have a KelTec PMR-30 22magnum with a threaded barrel, and it would be a hoot to use on it. I might instead just go ahead and get a .223 suppressor, as it can be down-used for .22LR (but not the reverse situation) and still work with an AR-15. I have a .300 blackout setup, too, so that could benefit from a sound suppression setup. I have also a threaded barrel for .400 Corbon for a Glock 21, so I'm looking for a decedent Gen4 (or 5 if available) Glock 21 (.45 cal), and I have a threaded barrel for my HK P30 (9mm). So eventually I'll want suppressors for more than 1 cal.

I get what your saying about about the firing loudness, as well as that snap you get with a multi-pumper I had the same question at one point with a few of mine until I had my son firing them while I was in the the alley. I was amazed at how quiet 800fps actually was. The only thing I could hear was the target being hit. As quiet as my belt driven air compressor is, it easily louder. Having said that I rarely looked at my Ruger Air Magnum .177 for in the yard because it was sending the ammo out between 1200 to 1300 fps making it crack like a 22lr. A couple years and couple more rifles later I was figuring out the pellet weights. I looked up at what fps the sound barrier crack happens, roughly at 1100 fps So as an example my Ruger Air Magnum Caliber .177" (4.5mm) Max Velocity 1400 fps alloy, 1200 fps lead Max energy Muzzle Energy FPE/ ft/lbs - 24 ft. Lbs. with 10.5g pellet If you shoot your common local walmart cheapy pellets that Weigh: 7.29 grains you will get the sound barrier broke. Then I found H&N SportĀ® - Piledriver .177 Lead 20.99 g <-- I'm not concerned about backyard noise with these It may have dropped the fps under 1100 but it's slinging a larger payload into whatever. common pellet pile drivers
So, that snap you get with a multi pump, I fixed that on my pumpers with some thing I made out of pvc pipe and a small stack of 20oz pop bottle necks on the inside. not the prettiest but after I covered the areas on my Crosman 66c with pieces of foam over the places with moving parts on the inside, all I hear is the trigger clicking.
Having said that, if I'm looking at the right picture of what you have, that sounds a little hard as an option for you to play with.

I don't know what to think about that scam video. He paid the scammer for info, and then blithely ignores the whole deal with basically an "I can't do anything about stupid" kind of approach. I don't believe this is a poor guy (the scammer) just doing the best he can, he and his four poor brothers in some poor country. That's not justification to me to run a world-wide crime ring. And crooks never tell the truth, that's probably all a concocted cover story and it's really state-supported Russians, Iranians, Indians/Pakistanians, or Chinese, etc. He could of at least not paid the scammer the full promised amount after the discussion--scammed the scammer, sort of. Or he could have reported his investigation results to the FBI and Interpol. Never heard of this website, doesn't make me want to watch it.

Enjoyable video, but I wish he had taken a "before" picture of the rusted one.

www.tinyurl.com/2buuzwebAbsolutely no warning and your vehicle is flying through the air. They never even saw the tire. I didn't know this was even possible.

Yeah, I saw that crash video a couple of days ago and was amazed at how the upright spinning tire acted as a ramp to send the little car up in the air and over, and then the tire kept going the same direction and then hit some other vehicle or structure behind the car with the dash-cam and rebounded, going back to hit the little crashed car again. I think that tire had it in for the little car!
