I'm trying..I just dread the thought of reformatting to fix the mic issue...since it is my only problem. It appears to be a software issue with my Creative control panel so I may take the time to address it tomorrow.Considering I have 30 gig worth of apps on my primary drive.. I use it only for my OS..and have 2 others for storage..3 including my removable HD. SO formatting is a major pain...and Red...SHADDUP!...lol

Ya it was cool finally hearing what everyone sounds like. Plus it's much easier than typing.

Never ask what kind of computer a person uses--if it's a Mac, he'll say; if not, why embarrass him?

I was building myself up to a fever pitch as I read your post, M, already crafting my response in my head (you KNOW Mac guys would NEVER have to do anything so drastic for such a simple problem, right???) when I read the last part--durn, there goes my fun! You know, I had a mic problem tonight--went onto TS and couldn't hear anyone and they could barely hear me. Oh dear, what must I do, should I reformat? Should I run Norton Utilities and check my registry? Should I alternatingly move control panels in and out of the control panel folder with system restarts in between to find an offending software conflict? Nope, just unplug the bad mic, hot plug in another brand USB mic, and that was it (first had just gone bad)--my Mac speaks "peripheral" flawlessly, no software downloads or wizards or configs or restarts or reformats, just plug and play. Tch tch tch! Get a Mac already! ;D

Mar im sure you tried this already but, have you dl or have the driver disk to your sound card? if so try going into control pannel open system then hardware profiles .... del your sound card driver and reinstall.. like i said you probably already tried that. .... you would be supprised how many people pay me to come fix a comp problem and find out that they didnt have the thing plugged in or modem hooked up.. lol usually something simple so thought i would toss it out there not tring to offend your intelligence

LOL Red and MM my head set is plug and play .. just plugged it in and started playing ... no set up or anything.. and MM sure you can pay $800 bucks for your mac and say you got all that software free.. but did you really... How much would your mac cost bare bones with nothing but the OS installed. I think paying $250 for my box and putting the software I want on it is much better.. lol have a good one.

is okay I have done many things..am just going to play with it a bit longer..as for fixing PC's I have a sideline registered business that just does that. I am slowly dropping out because I am getting sick of all the phone calls for stupid things....my last one was for a keyboard I had picked up for someone...they said it was defective...didn't work..was a PS2 style connector and they just plugged it right in they said....computer was off I asked...no why?stupidity amazes me..as for the headset is not a USB..so I have to fiddle around with one of my settings..
