early daylight savings time {sorry lam}

just thought i would let you know that if you hadn't heard daylight savings time starts early this year on Sunday March 11th at 2:00A.M. set your clocks ahead 1 hour. some people are calling it Y2K7{ humans! } because they think it is going to mess up computers with the early change.i just unchecked the auto adjust for daylight savings time box on the time /date in the settings window and i will set it manually .there all better! ;D

It's no big deal. It's like saying Christmas WILL now be Dec. 26 instead of 25, so some hard data already stored in the computer applications and OS will have to be changed to reflect that (remember, garbage in is garbage out). So we have to tell our computers that the beginning date of DST is now such and such and not so and so, if we care about the time and want the "use DST" options to work on our pc clocks.

The Mac will have to do that, too. The update showed up automatically when I started up one day LAST MONTH and has already been DL'd and installed (two clicks and a restart was all it took), and in fact I never even paid any attention to it until now. The Mac's OS Automatic Software Update service (free) is really sweet, simple, reliable, and timely.

And Y2k was never even a threat for Macs, whose OS and most applications can handle internally generated dates correctly all the way to the year 29,940. Let's see, in WidowMaker years, I'll be...uhm.....39 then.

And I think DST is going to go off LATER this year, too, than usual. If so, that's probably already in the updates, too.

My work IT dept. has been running around like chickens with their heads chopped off, trying to get everyone to shut down our Windows boxes at night this week so they can force the DST update on all the PC's, warning of dire consequences if we don't get the patch. I gave in, finally, and let them do their.....rape......last night.

lol Red Windows already "raped" my pc a few weeks ago with Windows live update (yep its free 2) update is already patched in and ready to roll.. so sing your mac praises but windows matched ya on that one evenly... lmao laters

Grrr... stupid daylight savings time.... I wish they would just pick a time and stick with it. At least I can hold out some hope that reason will prevail and we can get it repealed here in Indiana. We may have to wait to see how many local politicians get voted out at the next election over this. Unfortunally, we might be losing some Republicans because of this.

being originaly from AZ it was nice not haveing all that dst crap 2 times a year.. and being a 3rd shift worker it just sux that much more... is nice in spring work 1 hour less and get paid full shift but fall have to work an extra hour that night and man does it seam like it will never end.. then takes me at least a month to reset my internal clock... jet lag and didnt even go anywere...

well the feared y2k7 has come and like the feared 6/6/06,and y2k the apocalypse hasn't occurred ,planes didn't fall from the sky power grids didn't fail, maybe just some people that forgot to reset their clocks will be late for work ,church etc. but otherwise the sun came up , the world still spins and I'm still ugly .
