Interesting. It shares some characteristics with FireFox. It does seem to be pretty fast. The blurry text sucks though. For the moment I'll be sticking with FireFox for most things. Once you get spoiled to some of the add-ons, you can't give them up!

OK, I tried it ! 1) The blurriness of it sucks . Although it's adjustable and can be improved somewhat, it's not optimized for those of us still using CRT monitors . 2) Even though I have it set to open links in a new TAB , it still continues to open them in a new window. 3) I cant just click on bookmarks and scroll through the list . I have to open a side bar then go over there and open another folder then click on the mark I want. Very annoying ! 4) Every time I close Safari , I get an error message . Even after removing and re-installing a second time . 5) I didn't find it any faster the my Firefox . But at least I gave it a test drive. Thanks for the info Red ! Unfortunately statistics may say it topped 1 million downloads in 48 hrs. , But statistic I would like to see would be , How many dloaded it and KEPT it after trying it.

It's a Beta. What can I say. In case it delivers what it's promising, I thought you guys would be interested.
Lost Child, but did you send them in, your "bug" list? They really are trying to do it right for Windows, and that sort of first person info is important. Re: your list, Lost: 1) Why would text be blurry? The display should be a function of your OS and Monitor, not the application. How about posting a picture of the same web page on Safari and IE and FireFox so I can understand what you're seeing? 2) Make sure TABS are enabled first and the preferences saved. If they're not, it can't open in a new tab, it would be a new window. that would be my guess of what to check first. 3) Don't know what you mean. 4) Whenever I shut down my windows box at work, with applications open (MS Word, Adobe Standard, FireFox), it always says they're not responding and I get error messages. That's just Windows. Eventually, I can turn everything off and shut down, and nothing is lost or damaged. 5) Dunno what Safari tested against or how. Real world experience is what betas are all about. "Your mileage may vary" after all.
Oh, and the Assimilation continues. Now it's on your turf, too!

Hey Red .....NO , I don't send "bug" list to anyone . Re: your Re: 1) Don't know why it's fuzzy (more so then blurry). But I'm not the only windows person saying that, so obviously not my machine. 2) DUH No , really . I checked and double checked . Still even with that option selected, it still opened links in a new window. 3)Locating and selecting bookmarks requires unnecessary steps, thus being annoying and slowing down my surfing session . 4) I'm not talking about shutting down my 'puter. I'm talking about simply closing Safari. 5) My "mileage" was 2 day to the DELETE . OHH ! And when you say "They really are trying to do it right for Windows" Is that so when your spending more & more time on the Windows platform of your machine that you will have a browser that your used to ? ;D ;D

And when you say "They really are trying to do it right for Windows" Is that so when your spending more & more time on the Windows platform of your machine that you will have a browser that your used to ? ;D ;D Re 4), I regularly get the same happening (not responding, plus error message) when I try simply to quit apps (Word, Excel, Adobe, Powerpoint, any of Windows' biggies, actually) that have open windows that have not been accessed for a couple of hours. It's a Windows thing, apparently. I just get fed up with Windows and have to shut down every couple of days and restart or the whole thing won't run. My Mac OS can go indefinitely without having to restart, with no such problems. And let's remember who brought up FireFox here, the browser I use for my work windows box and for financial dealings for my mac. PLUS, with Parallels for Mac (http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop/) I'll be able to run my usual Mac OS and browser and apps and just have any necessary Wndows-only apps running as simply another window I can switch to without having to start up in Windows! So, I won't need a comfort blanket browser if and when I start doing windows machinations on a mac. On the other hand, seeing as how nice iTunes is for Windows, and Apple being Apple, after all, it only makes sense that Safari will work out any bugs and soon be just as nice for you windows types. I did say it was Beta at the moment, right? Just letting you fellas know that the assimilation continues, now well into your turf. That is all.

I sense shades of Hugh Red.. Now all we have to do is wait for him to reconnect to the collective and release our trap upon it. hehe

How does it read my Mac Safari (v. 2.0.4 currently and a long time since v. 1.2)? That chart shows only 1 user with Safari and at v. 1.2?

It's probably just reading the version number wrong.

Keep in mind, my little Windows friends...
Microsoft pulled all Mac support for IE about 4 years ago.... at least Apple is competing for the browser biz....probably more to lure FireFox customers, than winning over devout Windows/IE users; although the new Iphone users who use Windows will probably see compelling functionality in the future by switching to Safari. To each his own....
at this writing, native Safari (rev 2.0.4) on my G5 Mac is substantially faster than FireFox. I deleted IE 3 years ago.
