Here is my new Saitek GM3200dpi laser mouse. I have the blue one. got it on ebay for 5 bucks. Seems to be working well, however it will take me a few days to get the muscle memory reset for it. It is lightning fast on the 800dpi setting and if I dial it up to 3200dpi the slightest movement makes large adjustments on the screen. anyway just thought I would share.. here is a link to the site with more info on the mouse. tinyurl.com/2x5uan

I see it has "Adjustable friction plates". Do you have those set to give you some friction? I know when I switched to an optical mouse the zero friction movement really threw me off. I was shooting the mouse all over the screen. I now put green felt furniture stickers on the bottom of my mouse to give it some "feel". That helps me tremendously.

I had that problem with my mouse at work. The surface on my desk would either make it too fast or too slow on the screen. I finally went out and bought this pad at Bestbuy. Its about a 12"x10" metal surface and has a fast side and and the other side has more texture for control. Its heavy duty for a mouse pad, but I love it. I wish I could use it at home, but its a little too big.

What are the dimensions of the Saitek mouse? It seems that it would be great for both left and right handed people. My current mouse is 2.5" wide, 1/5" tall, 5" long & fits my hand perfectly. WOW... $5 is a steal for that mouse!

yes it comes with the friction plates.. im still experimenting with them to get the right feel. I may have to try your felt sticker idea Lam, that might work well in this case.
It also has adjustable weight distribution.
Vin the mouse is approx. 5 in long about 1.5 in tall and id say 3in wide. the buttons are rubberized as are the side grips. fits my hand like a glove.

Well... Just got back from Best Buy. They do not carry the Saitek. No one in Knoxville (Best Buy, COMPUSA, Office Depot, etc.) does. The did have the Merc board though. I played with it but do not think I would give up my mouse for it. The angle of the gaming key area was odd to me in comparison to how I use the mouse.
In looking I decided oon the RazerDeath Adder 1800DPI 1000Hz mouse and Tarantula Gaming keyboard. Both have the cool blue LEDs too.
If I do not like these things I may return them and echange them for the Merc Stealth when it comes out.

Vin... I'm not understanding..
You wrote:

why would you have to give up your mouse for the keyboard?
I'm using the Merc board AND saitek mouse at the same time.. The mouse does have programmable buttons but you do not have to bind functions to the extra buttons if you do not wish too. Also the angle on the keyboard is adjustable with little feet on the underside of the board.
Can we see some pics of the cool mouse and game keyboard you did get? would love to see them. ;D

I understood, DS, that if he were to use the Merc, he'd have to give up his mouse because he's a lefty and the merc special keypad is on the left.

I can see that I guess. Not using a mouse would make game play extremely difficult I would think.
BTW I emailed the sales department that makes the merc board. I asked them if they make a lefty version. I am still waiting for a reply.

Just slide your keyboard over, that's what I do. I use my left hand on the keyboard over the direction and number keys, so I just move the keyboard over to the left edge.

I was thinking that I could use the Merc "fang" section on the board as a replacement for my mouse and use the arrow keys with my right hand as I currently do. Thus eliminating the mouse for MOH. BUT Lam's simple solution would likely work really well. By moving the board to the right I could use the Merc keys with my right hand and use the mouse with my left as I do now.... Damn that was a simple solution that I totally missed. I guess that is why he is the Benevolent Dictator of all of us lesser Lamronians The death adder mouse is cool. But even though it is nearly lefty compatible (it is technically a righty mouse) I gave it a try. I think the Saitek would fit my hand better. Plus... Razers customer support SUCKS! I emailed them a detailed post on their service site. They responded asking me to try all the things I already told them I tried with no success. It is like they totally ignored my email describing the issues I have. I truly hate that. At first I thought it was an auto response, but it could not have been the way it was written. Looks like I am going to return the Tarantula and the death adder and order the Saitek Stealth (lefty version if they make one) & 3200dpi mouse.

also you may want to check out on the same site as the merc board they have just the game pad keys you could use.. you might have seen it already as i see you called it the fang keys.. it is the Fang.. then you could ignore your keyboard and use just that and the mouse.
