some of us have been wearing glasses since we were 5 years old too.... lol
Im blind as a bat with out corrective lenses... I hate glasses they don't let me have my peripheral vision.. have worn contacts 20 years now... vision is worse than 20/400, can not even make out the BIG E on the chart, but better than 20/20 with lenses... It is nothing to be ashamed of.. happens to many of us.
Doc says I would have near perfect vision with laser surgery.. I'm hoping some day to be able to afford that.

I'm glad you said it RedRock, lol. I was thinking the same thing but was not too sure how to use the proper words. I used to have great vision but I have also noticed that I am having trouble focusing on really small print or fixing small components, (yep, it sucks big time). So here we are, trying to snipe Private Michaels with our bifocals on..... Wouldn't it be cool if these monitor-making companies could do some kind of Lens-correction right in the screen for us so we wouldn't need glasses? I hope that when the time comes, it works out for you DS. Laser surgery scares the crap outta me. I have no problem gambling with money or other things that can be replaced, but gambling with my sight.... uh uh. Even if laser surgery actually reached the 100% success rate, I still don't think I would do it. My doc would probably sneeze while doing mine and poke my eye out.

Well, if they could do the initial lens-corrections, then they should be able to give us adjustment settings for it too..... lol

My glasses are pretty new, so I don't think that's it. Putting ambient lighting behind the monitor seems to help.
The laser surgery scares me too. It sounds great, but I don't dare risk losing my eyes!

When I bought my 22" LCD it took some time to adjust to it front he 21" CRT. I too from time to time have eye strain from the LCD. I find that light in the room helps. I also find that putting it further away from me helps too.
As to eye surgery, I had LASIK in June, 2000. Back then it cost over $5K. It was the best money I have ever spent. I would have paid far more than that. The price has come down tremendously too over the past 7 years. Look into it. you will be VERY glad you did. It only takes about 10 mins for the surgery and there is absolutely nothing to fear.

Go ahead, Silly...keep trying to snipe me with your bi-focals...! This is why I switched to SMGs long ago...! there's no shame in SMGs...is there...? or , nades? Furthermore, I have now taken to keeping a gigantic magnifying glass at hand near my monitor ( 17inch Apple LCD). I use it to see the pics on Ebay when the cheap bastards listing a car won't pop for the "SuperSize" option... Really works for me! Pvt. Michaels (sniper bait)
PS. I believe all snipers are Left wing radicals.....

Holy Crap, I just got hooked up with 2, 28" monitors at the office-both running at 1920x1200 with built in TV. My eyes are already straining, partially because they are so bright! It will probably take a few days to make the adjustment. But, seriously? That's overkill!

Aigad, I'd love to see a picture of your setup, complete with an everyday item in place for size comparison (phone book, person's head, 757 jet, etc.).
