Thanks for sharing. Never heard of this guy, although he looks familiar, sort of like an actor on some crime/action show I used to watch but can't remember now.
This video/song is provides an excellent example of the first amendment to the constitution.
Oh, not the part people usually think of--Freedom of Speech--no, no, the corollary--freedom not to have to listen to or watch such ......... "art."
Oh, and Lincoln was shot in the back of the head with no exit, not the left temple (the latter situation would have made the cowardly shooter actually have to look his victim in the face).

Rescue Me: Promos were enough to a) familiarize me somewhat with his face and b) insure I wouldn't be interested in its content/morals. Demolition Man: Never seen it. Sly and Wesley I know well. Does that tell you something about the "star power" of....whosit again?......oh yeah, Timothy...er, uh,....Dennis Leary.

Dennis Leary has always tried to be controversial in his material. Personally I have never been particularly fond of his stand up or other work. IMHO this song pokes fun at what Leary sees at the regular American guy. Leary sees the average American family man as apathetic to Government (hence the nose blowing on the flag); less than correct in his understanding of our history (hence the Lincoln shooting error); focused on sex (hence the implants); desirous of having it all (hence the hardwood floor and Cuban cigar references) etc. etc. etc. From the people I deal with every day I doubt that he is very far off the mark in his assessment of the typical American family man and his opinions... most are the asshole he sings about.

I always saw that in Leary too, Vin. No matter what he was doing in a movie or in his stand-up, to me, he always seemed to be portraying himself as a ignorant jerk or a pissed off Peasant. RedRock, That movie the Demolition man was basically about changing times and how the local government was becoming way to powerful and controlling. At a point in that movie, Edgar Friendly, (Leary) meets the cop from the past, (Stallone) and starts yelling out all the things that he wants to do, but can't because of the control by the system, in a way that only Dennis Leary can accomplish. (oh, and Sandra Bullock is in this flick too) Leary is a very rude crude dude when he holds that mirror up in our faces. Sometimes a person has to be rude and crude and unafraid to blurt out the truth. The truth is not always a pretty thing. There are times when I "wished I had said something to someone who needed a reality-check, but didn't". Leary reminds me of what I would like to be more like at certain times. When I see inconsiderate jerks or brainless morons do dumb things that totally lack any respect towards others, I would spout off with a statement that in effect, slaps that other inconsiderate person in the face, except that I am ranting and raving from the sound-proof safety of my vehicle. Then again, I could be wrong with my guess here and Leary could actually be a shallow-minded Jerk. ;D
