I bought the 8800 GT today, plugged it in, turned computer on, and it beeped all to hell... I read the troubleshooting guide, and it says that the beep sound is a warning from the motherboard BIOS that says that it cannot initialize the video card. This can mean one of three things: 1) The card is not seated correctly. 2) There is a problem with the motherboard's video card slot. 3) There is a problem with the video card. My guess is #2 since I was having problems with my ATI card. Any suggestions at this point?

not meaning to sound..rude..but you did seat it all the way ..and plug in the card?..I made that mistake once...didn't plug in the external molex.. short of that check for a M/B BIOS update
what M/b and CPU?
just thought of something else...they are a power hog..is your PSU up to the task?

CONGRATS on that card! I have an 8800GTS and love it... they are power hungry. I would suggest no lower than a 500 watt PS. I had a friend who didn't plug in the power for the 8800 and he had similar issues.

I seated it in as far as it could go and didn't see anything else to plug in??
I have the gateway 840GM M/b. I checked my power supply that came with it and its 400 watts which is the minimum to run the 8800 GT.

On the end of the card you must plug in a molex connector from your PSU. That card requires power from the PSU. The plug is on the end of the card that faces the interior of the case.
I hate to do it too.... but read the install instructions. It shows where to plug in the juice.

Ah, there it is! lol....Its kind of hidden! (Doh!) I'll see if that fixes the beeping. BRB
The instructions that came with it, doesn't show anything and it's actually quite vague.

If you have them .. the same kind of plug that you use to plug into your hd or cd drive plugs into those.

LOL.. in the box there is an adapter... It will take the plug in your pic and convert it to the plug on the card. It is in a small plastic bag all to itself. PART #601-EV-1009-R1

WAIT! Upon looking at the pics carefully, it is the adapter I speak of sticking out of the 8800. You can plug BOTH of those ends into PSU power plugs... OR use one of the 6 pin plugs already on your PSU (I see one in your pic) and you won't need the adapter at all. Either way it will work just fine.
