I went out a blew my tax refund today on computer parts!

Here's what I got:

Nvidia nForce 780i SLI Motherboard
Intel Duo Core 3.0 GHZ CPU
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX OC
Case, HD, DVD, etc.

The over-clocked 8800 GTX was expensive (~$500), but its supposed to be great. This motherboard will handle up to three of them SLI linked.

I took my time assembling all the parts, and then tried to boot up. GRRRRR!!!!!! Starts up and dies after a few seconds. I narrowed the problem down to a DOA power supply. I had to drive back to the store (GRRRR) and get a new one. I decided to build this computer entirely from locally available parts, so I wouldn't have to go through the frustration of waiting for shipping if there was a problem.

I'm installing the OS and drivers now. The smallest SATA HD I could buy was 500M, so its taking a LONG time to format it.

The constitution wasn't perfect but it was better than what we have today.

I have the same (or very similar - 640MB GTS SC) vid card & same processor. IDIA card without using the nHancer software. If anyone can find that, you can!

I was just looking at 8800 gt oc today at best by.. $270'sh they had the 9600 gt oc for $249.

the 8800GT is still a better card than the 9600's...Tagan builds a nice case..I have been entertaining an idea of buying one..bit different a model though..but it has a nice layout
