and you have patched all the way up to the 1.5v patch? did you do them in order one at a time? or just put in the 1.5v patch?
you have to have all of them installed in the order they were released for it to work correctly.
Just an Idea.
also most of us found that the only 1.5 patch that would work was the one from xfire.. with the limited knowledge of how you set up the game.. this would be my best bet as to why you can not connect to a server or even find one. you have to have the patch installed correctly to even have servers display in the join game menu.

Lam, make sure you have your connection settings for COD right from within the game's multiplayer menus. It sounds like to me that you have it set for LAN instead of internet for places to search for servers. Also, make sure your connection method is set to CABLE/DSL, and that you are searching for all game types and server types (filters). And you will need to have your CDKey put in your config file, of course, so that the master server will see and like you.

It suddenly started working for no apparent reason. Its things like this that make me want to give up on computers completely. I spent 8+ hours today trying to get it to work. I tried every possible thing and NOTHING would allow me to join a server. It always either timed out or gave me a PB error. Then it suddenly worked without me changing anything. That pissed me off more than if I had found and fixed the problem.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. When building a new PC it amazes me how new "bugs" seem to fix themselves. I often think that some parts just need to work together for awhile to configure themselves to work together.

I've been reading around, and it seems to be a common problem with a lot of people. Sounds like most people would try connecting 5-6 times in a row before it worked. Hopefully, it doesn't happen again. What a pain in the ass though...

Yes, the dreaded PB error. That would be Punk Buster software that is supposed to keep cheaters off of our servers but instead, kicks non-cheating players for no reason and refuses to allow others to join in. The game is still very new and it needs loads of improvements. (Notice the large print on the messages from the server console, right in the middle of the screen? That never gets in the way of my view of the playing field any... )

your console msg come up in the middle of your screen silly? wow did not know it was doing that. Mine are on the left of my screen about half way up. I will look into this and post what I find at the other place.

Mine display on the left side, centered vertically. They are right in my left eye's normal viewpoint. I would L O V E to see them move to the top or bottom of the screen to free up my field of view as I often get shot from the left side.
