How to take a picture from your computer and put it in a forum post:1) Image has to be "hosted" someplace on the internet. Go here for free unlimited picture hosting: www.imageshack.us2) After you host it, you will be given several examples of code to use to link to it. Find the one that looks like this (notice the IMG on both ends) img92.exs.cx/img92/954/ace750deluxe2ap.jpg 3) Cut and paste that someplace you can retreve easily. I just open NotePad and put it there temporarily. 4) Post in the forum. Someplace in your post, paste the line you cut from ImageShack. That's it. You can hit the "preview" button to make sure the picture shows up and is where you want it to be in your post.

In the avatar section of your profile find the section that says "I have my own pic". Make sure it is checked and that the box contains ONLY the address of the picture, WITHOUT the ![]() tags before and after it. Don't leave the page without hiting the "Change Profile" at the bottom. See if that works for you.

Shootsy, I'd complain about the inhumanity of your grenade attacks, but then, as it appears so obvious, in this regard I don't have a leg to stand on! LOL! I will be lurking for you!

*grumble, growl* Freakin computers. My pic is 1,300 some-odd kb. Max size on ImageShack is 1,030kb. My friggin pic is too big, and I don't know how to reduce it. I'm giving up on pc's and going back to beating on stone tablets.

E-mail it as an attachment to me, and I'll reduce and send back. Or if there are parts of the picture that aren't important, you could crop it.

How to take a picture from your computer and put it in a forum post:1) Image has to be "hosted" someplace on the internet. Go here for free unlimited picture hosting: www.imageshack.us a) At ImageShack, click the button "Choose File" and then navigate on your PC to where you have your image stored, and choose that image; it will show up on the ImageShack page to allow you to verify you've chosen the one you want. b) Next, click the ImageShack "host it!" button, and you'll then get the ImageShack page with links to your hosted picture, if ImageShack accepts the format for your upload. 2) After you host it, the ImageShack page will give you several examples of code to use to link to your picture. Find the one with "DIRECT LINK TO IMAGE"--it will look like this: img92.exs.cx/img92/954/ace750deluxe2ap.jpg<<<RedRock: Your particular URL info will be where the "img92.exs.cx/img92/954/ace750deluxe2ap.jpg" is in Lamron's example>>> 3) Highlight and copy that line, and then paste it someplace you can retreve easily. I just open NotePad and put it there temporarily. <<<RedRock: With the Mac, just highlight and copy the line, and it will be in the Clipboard and doesn't need to be pasted anywhere temporarily, so long as you don't copy anything else before you paste the link in the forum. The same might be true for Windows, I don't know, but Lamron's technique protects the info so you don't have to go to ImageShack again and re-copy the link.>>> 4) Post in the forum. Someplace in your post, paste the line you copied from ImageShack. 5) Put ![]() at the beginning of your pasted line and at the end of it. <<<RedRock: NOTE: TO GET THIS TO DISPLAY IN THIS RESPONSE IN THE FORUMS, A SPACE HAS BEEN ADDED AFTER THE IMG IN THESE TWO BRACKETS; DON'T PUT THE SPACES IN WHEN YOU DO IT.>>> It will then look like this: img92.exs.cx/img92/954/ace750deluxe2ap.jpg <<<RedRock: Again, an extra space was added at the end of the last img before the bracket to keep it from actually showing the picture referenced; don't put that space in when you type it. Alternatively, use the "Tag" toolbar button that pops up when you do a "post reply" and click on the picture icon, and it will put " ![]() URL" (again, spaces added) at the very end of your posting, and just put your URL from ImageShack where "URL" is and cut and paste the whole thing where you want it.>>> That's it. You can hit the "preview" button to make sure the picture shows up and is where you want it to be in your post.<<<RedRock: This is modified from Lamron's orginal posting, adding some detail I've discovered I needed to make it work. I think it's correct. If you use one of the other ImageShack picture URL options, such as "THUMBNAIL FOR FORUMS (1)" you'll get a "thumbnail" or small version of the picture. That the pictures will be "orginal" or "big" size using the DIRECT link is not necessarily good, as the Chia bike picture (see lpmembers.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=Motorcycles&action=display&thread=1117463818) I posted in the direct link was huge and needed scrolling just to see, so the thumbnail was actually better. Even better would have been to get it to medium size. I'm still trying to figure that part out.>>>
