This is the quoted description : "Description: Some stupid idiot in a minivan pulls in front of a motorcycle at 50MPH. Learn to use a turn signal, idiot." Can you riders tell me WHY they are calling the van driver an idiot ? www.tooshocking.com/index.php?ns=view_vid&id=442

bit awkward to reply lost.a lot depends on the speed limit on that paticular road/road conditions/speeding bike/etc.i have had some close ones with cars/vans.seems some drivers somtimes forget about bikes.in the uk,the number of bikers increases rapidly in summer months.maybe having come out of a winter some take time to adjust to the increase of bike traffic.but getting to your question, maybe the biker was the idiot!looking at the vid the biker was making an illeagle manover anyway!

Yep Pop, What the biker did was WRONG !
Did you notice the Double Yellow line ?
1)It's illegal to pass on a double yellow line in the US .
2)The direction the van went ,was following the road . The other bike made a turn off .

In Missouri, the law doesn't actually say it is illegal to pass on a double-yellow. It is illegal to pass with so many feet of a bridge, intersection, when view is obstructed, or when it interferes with approaching traffic. The lines are a safety warning from Dept. of Transportation.
I didn't notice at first that the main roadway does indeed make the left turn...the bike that made it and went straight actually made a turn off the previous road. Good catch, Lost.
The biker pulled a bonehead. His attention lapsed, and he didn't notice, much less EXPECT, the van driver to make that turn. He lost his motorcyclist mentality that he is running invisible to all other traffic.

Also in this area there are lanes on the interstate that are divided by Double Solid WHITE lines and is illegal to cross and pass on those too !

Clearly it was 100% the biker's fault. The van was following the curve in the road and didn't need to signal, and the double yellow lines mean NO PASSING! I hope they make him pay for the damage to the van.

for some reason when i try 2 view the video the window disappears except for the control bar. but from description you all are giving .i always signal when i am on a road that the part i am on curves. that way there is not doubt .one road i sometimes use the road is straight then bends sharply to the left.but there is a a road dead ahead .the traffic coming at u from that road has a stop sign .i signal no matter which way i need to go .when i am sitting at that stop sign i wait till all cars are past coming down the straight .because too many cars have optional turn signals installed these days. if i am coming down the straight and go straight. i use the right signal even though i am going straight.this lets the other driver know it is safe to proceed. and i NEVER EVER cross in front of a car with a right turn signal coming from my left no matter how p.oed the people behind me get he may have forgotten to turn it off. i'm not afraid to drive nor do i drive 25 mph every where.accidents are bad enough stupid ones are worse

I agree that the biker was totally at fault in this one.

These bikers riding like jackasses are the reason the rest of us riders are given a bad rap!

Bruce Cockburn (pronounced Co-burn) is a Canadian. No wonder he wants a rocket launcher, not allowed to own em here!
