Nuclear Emergency SEARCH Team? LOL, I hope that means search for a device BEFORE it goes off! Otherwise, they ain't much to be a-searchin' for, now is there? DEFCON is defense condition, and signint is signals intelligence, right? They follow the military pattern of partial words thrown together, rather than a word per letter (such as FBI).

NEST teams search for lost warheads (known as Broken arrow), and contain radiation leaks, as in a reactor malfunction. That kind of thing.

NEST teams search for lost warheads (known as Broken arrow), and contain radiation leaks, as in a reactor malfunction. That kind of thing. what is a bit unnerving is that it happens enough to have a term for it.. to quote phrase i heard one time "it's not the man with 1000 nuclear bombs that worries me..it's the man that has only one"
