Started new thread to leave room for the animal wackies. I used to carry a few bat houses when I managed the pet store but they were about $26 bucks each. I thought that was a little pricey for a wooden mailbox. And yes those little suckers...LOL pun intended, eat tons of bugs. The Indiana brown bat can eat up to 600 mosquitoes per hr. They also like to be within a couple hundred yards of water. I have lots of water LOL, but in city limits there are not a lot of places bats could gather in a large area. I just thought it would be cool to have my own bug killing armada, and watch them shoot out of their hole every evening. Who knows, maybe they wont have to spray over here anymore lol. What I'm picturing is a skeleton key hole shape upside down or a figure 8, with the bottom of the eight a larger diameter. Which would be relatively easy with a 12" dia pvc under a maybe 5" dia pvc with the mid section removed like a digital 8 with the middle segment gone to make a zero, just the bottom is bigger. Now haveing said all that, the house itself would be about 24 to 30 ft long tube with a drain somewhere in there so I can shoot water in to clean out the bottom and run it into a flower bed or something, but I'm trying to figure out an easy way to add a bat when someone brings me some. I was thinking a cleanout trap running to the main section connected to a saddle tie in. The add-a-bat trap LOL. I'll do a quick sketch to show what I'm picturing. The part I'm really stuck on is what to make their hanging spot out of..like wood but doesn't rot but, sandpapery so they can cling to it. This whole thing would be insulated some how also because I'm wanting to maximize the amount of heat that will stay inside through the winter. It may not be a problem for a mass of them, but if I only get a few at a time and one side is open to the air, I don't want batsicles. Flying rodent engineering help appreciated. ;D When and if this gets built at all, this will be my bug killing armada's theme song when they fly out at night LOL. 10webs.com/digitalmilitia/Majors/Force_Commander_Imperial_March_Leviathan.mp3Maybe if I played it for them enough I can train them to come out when I want----GO FORTH AND KILL I SAY!! LOL

Just be careful. Any bat-caves, so to speak, need to be in an area humans won't be frequenting or able to breath in dust from the bat's roost/droppings. Bat poo can be the reservoir for some very very nasty fungal lung infections for humans, especially Histoplasmosis. wasg.iinet.net.au/histo.html

I've been researching this since your post the other day and been wanting to get back to this and this is what I've found so far... First a question...What does guano look like? The bat I have.."And it's a good thing it's cold right now cause he's parked right over the enterance door!!" looks like brown tic tacs. I was under the impression from current and past knowledge that guano implies white bird like droppings instead of brown insect doo doo looking stuff n shit....lol 2) The fungus thing is confusing because in some sites it says that it's too hot in attics to grow, but yet it takes 3 to 5 years to mature with heavy usage People use guano for garden fertilizer Double confusing...It's going to be good or bad I would think... The purpose of the drain would goto 1 of two places, the garden or the alley for buildup cleanout where it can dry, break down and move on in either place. Some of the sites imply that wooded areas stay damp and don't dry out promoting fungus growth...LOL HEY I love mushrooms...hehe.... NO RED, NOT THOSE KIND ;D If I piped it either place, it stands to reason that there would be no issue...HOWEVER...I did find a really cool stand alone design I never found through previous searches that may be more to my likeing...BUT I still like the built in idea for being inside city limits.... I guess as I age, I've switched from pushing the MANS buttons daring them from younger years, to daring them to tell me not to and what you going to do about it as I became the old dude that yells at my younger self for cutting through the yard...know what I mean..LOL....come to think of it...no kid has cut through the yard since I had the alligator 4 years ago....lol just realized that. And in this county, that stuff is forbidden...go figure..every place around us can have that stuff but Huntington cannot have inside city limits Piranhas, scorpions, snakes, alligators...basically lizards that eat large stuff I guess like monitors, tarantulas. Go right outside city limits and you can. I guess thats why I kinda push a little in the duck/chicken area, not multiplying them, but it's a food source also, makes a good argument for the judge if the animal control shows up...I ran out of golf balls to put in egg cartons, had to put something else in them LOL. Like I said, I may have found a better stand alone tower desighn, but still like the cave idea. rocket box www.batsnorthwest.org/rocketbox_plans.pdf

I am perfectly happy with my crossman 760 pump master .177 bb/pellet pump up. 650 fps, I had one when I was a kid, and wore the thing out LOL.. I bought another one a few years back and use it for varmits that come up in my yard.. cats, rabbits ( they eat the wife's flowers), also about once a month I go out to the barn at night and clear out all the sparrows that insist on roosting in there and crapping all over everything. It is an all around good air rifle, varies in strength from 1 pump up to 10. has a scope rail. ( I just use the open sights). Bought my 12 year old his first bb gun last year and this is the model I for got him. Ranges in price... $30 to $50 depending on where you go to buy it.

I'm down to a few choices, tell me what you think. First one, 1,200 fps .177. BUT I can't find info if the 1200fps is with super sonic ammo or not. Probly so though by this. GAMO RAPTOR P.B.A. PELLETS Cal: .177 / Count: 10 www.shootnhunt.com/catalog/JM/airguns_and_accessories/airgun_ammunition/1305047.htmlGamo® Shadow .177 cal. Sport Air Rifle with a 3 - 9x40 mm Scope www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=407761Number 2 possible Gamo Varmint Hunter comes with scope and laser but, only .177 1250 fps with pbs ammo, 1000fps with lead. I like the end of barrel, easier to add stuff. www.gamousa.com//Catalog.aspx?Product=68Number 3 possible Beeman RS3 Dual-Caliber Air Rifle Combo Shoots .177 and .22! comes with 2 barrels, and barrel break style 1 pump. Comes with 2 barrels. Question on this. Is the Ported muzzlebrake removeable? anyone able to find out? Number 4 possible Beeman RS1 Dual-Caliber Air Rifle Same as RS3 but in brown, and only a optic sight on front. Those are the ony differances I could find really. www.pyramydair.com/p/beeman-ss1000-s-air-rifle-dual-caliber.shtmlAmmo Info Chart www.pelletammo.com/Overall thoughts: I really like the dual barrel concept along with high FPS, leaning towards #4 Give me your thoughts and input. Keep in mind that I'll be modding this like my other I have now. The benefit is that these already come with scope mounts, mine did not, it was a dremel build. Good read for airguns! If want info, I can help. This is another of my extensive library...By now I'm sure I've gotten the attention of larger authorities, but rest be assured, I know the repercussions of one of these on a firearm. This book comes with what BATF form to fill out also for a legal build/own of a silencer for a FIREARM! NOT an airgun, after all, some are just elaborate versions/and some are lawn mower engine mufflers from the hardware store. This book does state that it doesn't work like the movies either btw! If you wanted a silencerfor a high powered rifle, it would have to be at least 3ft long to be reputably affective. I guess thats how you would have to put it. And NO, they will not work on a revolver nomatter how bad you want it to LOL. Lamron already knows this, as I'm sure you all do, just trying to get everyone's attention This actually goes with another post I've been wanting to reply to, speciffically the gps post, was that, just because I live in the hometown of 44th vice president, the level of intelligence I DEAL WITH everyday is, "Is that your new phone?...your gps!!?....how'd you get that off your leg?!" and everyone thinks that wi-fi means your cell phone!!!....dumbasses! When someone builds a real smart bomb, let me know!!! PLEASE!!! www.amazon.com/Hayduke-Silencer-Book-George/dp/0873645227The Gamo Whisper even comes with one. www.airgunsbbguns.com/Gamo_Whisper_Air_Rifle_Pellet_Gun_p/gmo611004954.htm

I am perfectly happy with my crossman 760 pump master .177 bb/pellet pump up. 650 fps I had that exacts same one!!!!!! LOL, BUT hmmm I think it wore out cause I took it apart for some reason. I taped a cusion under the pump to make it more quieter. I was actually looking for the barrel last summer for a air compressor thing I was working on but can't find it....might be at mom and dads house...lol Whatever I broke on it was a long time ago. I actually busted the cocking/loading lever on my 1377, but a machinest guy at a place I used to work at made me a new one! a little stronger too I think. Right now as far as rifles go, all I have is a power master 66 without scope, until I put one on. Caliber: .177 Velocity: 680 fps for BBs / 645 fps for Pellets I never new the fps till now!!!lol no wonder I stuck with my 1377, same results in shooting. Tapeing a pad of at least some folded duck tape under the pump handle greatly improves quiet pumping. A friend of mine showed me that because he was ridding pest birds from his woods and they learned that pumping "CLACK" and always took off after he was doing it LOL.

Be very careful about airgun silencers. If it COULD be removed from your airgun and duct-taped onto a .22 rifle, and suppress one shot before falling apart, then it is a firearms silencer. It doesn't matter that you didn't actually do it, its called "constructive possession". That means you can be charged for a crime that you MIGHT be theoretically able to commit. Your outdated notions of "innocent until proven guilty" won't prevent the ATF from driving a tank through your living room! The Gamo Whisper gets away with it because it is permanently fastened to that barrel and can't be removed without destroying it. Its also lightweight plastic that would burst if a real bullet was fired through it. The Mosin Nagant revolver is the exception to the "can't silence revolvers" rule. It uses an unusual sliding cylinder system that seals the gap.

oh. well, best to do some rethinking on this then. I guess I forgot to look at other angles it could be stated. Guess your right, innocent intentions don't work here much anymore.
That Mosin Nagant revolver exception is very neat, I did not know that.

LOL I'm so excited, I'm not sure weather to post this as a project, or under animal rights wackiness...lol!!!
I GOT THE SUCKER!!!
Stepped out back about an hr ago for a smoke and a trip to the chaser machine, and I just caught the glimps of one of the possums creapin through the yard.
I swished the door back open and grabbed the blowgun. With flashlight under the barrel in my aiming hand, I creaped around my office trailer and peered underneath and there it was oblivious to me like I didn't even have a light on it, maybe it was the quietness of my slippers...I seem to always get stuck in them when this stuff goes down LOL.
I huffed a shot off annnnnnd, I MISSED! *%#@!. I was so intent on avenging my duck, I wasn't takeing my time. I creapped around and found my dart in the dirt at a terrible angle. I kind of had to laugh but I retrieved it with the telescopic magnet in the end of my flashlight all the while scanning to make sure I wouldn't get charged or something hehehe.
As I wobbled the dart loose, it was 2ft behind it just out from underneath the trailer in a pile of junk I had on the other side. Reloaded and creeped around to that side, kicked a metal thing, said ouch "damned slippers" limped to the back and shined light underneath, it was back where it was.
I huffed off a shot and heard a tink from part of the dart hitting the axel?! I watched for a second and it turned and I saw the dart flight "Bright yellow Wire Nut" hovering slightly ...true hit #1!
It didn't move alot or make any noises. I knew that dart was the longest one I had but couldn't tell what it was situated in, where or depth wise.
I stayed in the prone position and whatched. It just moved around like nothing was going on. Odd.
Between the last shot and the one I'm about to take, about 5 seconds passed maybe I think.
The dart I pulled out was hard to get out of the holder so I knew it was a broadhead. I loaded it, took aim and huffed it off, and NO SOUND OF HIT O.o?! but that sucker shot from the middle of the trailer all the way to the front and stopped. 16ft trailer btw.
I got up and walked around to the lit side "between house and trailer" and stopped just shy of the front corner and there was its head poking out from the edge. I jumped back, then up on a wooden step and made a cat hissing noise and it went back under. I did it again and it came out from under the trailer all the way but the tail....And between, well, huffed off the the shot I had ready and it stuck..DEEP, but no sound. I stood in awe just watching 3 bright yellow dots move like when they tape ping pong balls to a person to do digital animation shots , and that's when I said to myself, "DAAAAAMN" ....I guess I was just used to the sound of darts hitting a solid target.
For the rest of the story...lol, I had to run inside and grab the mini maglite because when it ran, it went under the pull behind trailer by the fence through the weeds and stuff.
When I came back out 30sec later I quickly started from the front of the office trailer and walked the path to the fence.
At the fence after looking under stuff I found the first dart I shot hanging on the fence. I retrieved it with the led lite magnet while scanning the trees not knowing where it had gone....I was thinking it was going to drop off a branch and kick my ass lol.
Anyway, I tracked the bloodletting trail roughly 80ft...initial shot to over fence and too close to nieghbors house that late at nite.
The darts used:
The only retrieved dart was 7.5 in long and a pencil tip shape. It was a bicycle spoke dart. The blood level depth however, measured 3.25in!! That's a whole lotta dart sinkin' in.
The last 2, both in length were 5-6in second was a broadhead tip I know, but the last not sure what tip it was.
I need to let Dave the neighbor guy know to watch for bright yellow dots in the yard so I can get my darts back lolol
Overall experience:
Didn't really give any happy joy joy laughing feelings other than that one thought chuckle. It was more of a focused daze of the build a more personal, bigger mouse trap feeling. If it comes back with 2 bright yellow things stuck in it, then I'll laugh my ass off!
Glad I remembered to clip off all the spokes of the bike I scraped this summer. At this rate, I'm needing more darts in a bad way.
Good thing also that work uses exacto blades as they are about to donate a few for some more exotic broadhead darts. I'ma get medevil native, on the next unlucky sucker!

What a story! I hope it doesn't crawl under your house or drop onto your roof before it dies (and starts to decompose and attract flies!!!).

I hope not either but, I stopped following the blood trail as it got past the old chicken coop in the neighbors yard. It was my thought of a flashlight wielding person at night with a long stick thing that could have been a crowbar wouldn't look good ccreeping around the actual house lol.
If I finnally get a Saterday off, I'm going to go check around the deck of the pool in his yard lol. I not really sure if I'm going to find any bc of something else tracking IT down by follow the impending stench of death it was leaving in its wake.

It's odd you should say that bc at work I was trying to remember where I had stashed some old bow night sights so I could afix one to the end to see the end of the barrel easier at night. Then I told myself I might as well put a scope mount on the underside for my blue maglite, then I laughed to myself wondering if someone makes a battery powered wi-fi cam. lol I really can't stand batteries, but it would probly be worth my frustration in this case. I might be able to do something with the kodak but it would probly turn out like Blair Witch Hunt. Anyway, I took my entire stock of bicycle spokes to work, raided the electrical and plumbing areas of the shop and I came up with some stuff to make a nice heavy duty quiver and made 47 steel darts. Also just looked under a pile of junk by the printer and found a whole pack of bamboo bbq skewers, WOOHOO! Now I need to raid the womens area of my bathroom for some cottonballs.
