Believe it or not, MoH is not the only WWII game I play! I also play Combat Flight Simulator 2 and 3, and Call of Duty. But, I need some help!
I've had Call of Duty for some time now. I had a problem in multiplayer options with creating my screen name...it filled in a bunch of numbers behind my name and I couldn't do anything to delete them. Anyway, someone suggested I uninstall the game and reinstall it, which I did. When I tried to start up multiplayer again, I got a console error which stated:
recursive error after: Can’t use keys with a “ key: ‘bel”’ value: ‘<NULL>’
I've never had any problems with CoD before. The game loaded correctly after the uninstall. Any ideas? Should I remove it again and reload it AGAIN?

Don't know, just a guess--sounds like a bound key or a keyboard mapping is off. Try moving your config file out of the folder where it belongs, then launch the game and it will create a new one; you can then add you key binds in. You can also search the current config file to see if there is a key bound or assigned as 'bel' and change or delete that one entry. You might also want to check your font encoding and make sure it is set to Western (Windows Latin 1), especially if the user name you're trying to use has alt-chars or symbols. Again, just a guess.
When you get it to working, let me know, and we can go to a COD server together sometime, or COD2 (which I just got) if you have that. Last week I got together with 2 others from the Macologist forums and we went to COD servers together on teamspeak to play for an hour or so; got hammered just the same, but it was fun. I still like MOH best, but the crouch/prone of COD and the new maps and objective play make it an occasional interesting diversion.

Quote (originally posted by Lamron): "I keep telling you guys PATCH YOUR GAME!" Um, yeah, er.... Problem fixed! I'm in for that, Red! I still don't have TeamSpeak capability with this computer for some reason, but I'd sure do a game with you. I only have the original CoD...no UO or #2. Since you're a CoD user, too, maybe you can help me with the name issue. I go to Multiplayer Options and type in my name, but it has a bunch of 9's behind it. I can't get rid of them! Delete does not work. I can space them away so I can't see them anymore, but they will still be there in the game. I got a cheap version of the game that did not come with the full manual, so I can't look it up. Any tips?

I don't know, Des. My copy (Mac version) doesn't have anything like that. I can't find anything like that on google and some COD forum searches. The game manual doesn't mention it, either.
?Cheap version of the game? As in, you don't own a CD key? Is this a copy protection thing? DID you enter a CD key?
My latest version is 1.5c for both multiplayer and single player COD. What version did you end up with after your patch?
And as far as TS, if you can at least listen, you can type back responses as needed, and that's better than just typing alone in both directions for communcations. Also, I do have a beta Ventrillo for Mac, but I don't know how to set it up. If you have Vent and can help me set up mine, we could do that if your TS isn't working. Of course, if your problem has to do with a mic or speakers, then I guess it's the same problem with either VOI program, right?

Yes, Red, it's a retail version of the game with the CD key, but after titles are out for a while the manu's will remove the box and some of the manuals, leaving just the cd and a bare-bones leaflet describing controls. Since a cd case takes up much less room on a store's shelf, they can keep their older titles in the stores longer by reducing their size. I updated to v1.5, also.
I can't get a mic to work. I certainly can tune in and listen, though.
Widow, it looks like ISM is a CoD2 only server? Do you still play the original CoD? I would love to play you again!
With the kill replay I've seen a lot of things that really make me wonder! People looking at a wall and following me until I appear from behind it...one or two shots from an smg laying me to waste while I don't seem to get the same accuracy, etc. I know these are all very common complaints from new players and often result in accusations of cheating...geez, I feel like a newb again!!! I use the same tactics in CoD that I use in MoH, aim for the upper torso and head, fire in short bursts, etc. Guess I'll just have to keep at it!
Is the UO expansion any good? Do I need to get it? What about CoD2?
I really like the ability to go prone, and I'm a BIG fan of the aiming style. Run and have a wide crosshair. Stop and it narrows. Kneel and it narrows further, go prone and it gets even more accurate. Then shoulder your weapon and look through the sights for precise shots. Cool realism!

Des, I can't play on ISM (iron sight mayhem, Veracity and others from the old XID COD2 clan who left and started their own COD2 server) because it uses the COD2 v1.3 patch which is not out yet for Mac ("any day now, real real soon, we promise" according to Aspyr). I havent' played enough on either COD or COD2 yet to be able to tell you what the differences are, but COD2 is fun, too.
Last night I tried a COD server, and the map was "The Bridge," and it is MOH's "Crossroads" we play just for COD2--it didn't have the doors to open and all but is really pretty in COD!
And btw, the forums on planetcallofduty.com don't mention any problem like you're having with the multiplayer naming.
I like the prone and realism, too, but it is harder to pick out enemies (and team members) in COD/2 than with MOH.

People looking at a wall and following me until I appear from behind it See here: www.firingsquad.com/games/call_of_duty_guide/This feature makes the game vunerable to crosshair hacks. It is possible for a player to have a MOH style non-moving crosshair that isn't effected by movement or stance. Is there any game the cheaters can't ruin?

Hey I talked to Veracity and he asked if you were using alt codes in your name..If so you can not use alt codes. He said you can go into your config file and enter your name there. He told me to tell you to go to his site and post in forums and they would be more than happy to help ya out. Also they have a server for the game you have....... ;D

That's it...I'm going to get United Offensive (CoDv1 expansion) and COD2! Can't be left out! I have found some Mac errors/bugs with the multiplayer, Pvt., for example, the favorites area of the server list doesn't show up added fav servers, so you can't select them and go there, also sometimes the app doesn't find the DVD in the drvie already when you try to launch the game. I hope the v 1.3 patch comes out soon so we can maybe fix some of the problems and go to all of the servers.

Hmmm...a new issue, and I have only seen it while playing CoD so far.
Three times now in the past week, my screen has gone black while playing CoD and a 'No input' message comes up. I can still hear the game running through audio. I've had to reset the computer each time, and it seems to come back up normally. The game appears to have the most current patch.
Is there something wrong with my video card?

I've located a problem... my power supply cooling fan is out.
Could that be heating things up inside the box enough to cause glitches?
