I'm hopping they don't do that Herr, and they let people run their own servers as they do on sh/bt... also hopping there is enough interest for Lam to run an Airborne server if the game is worthy of it and we don't all have to take out a loan to upgrade our computers to do it.
Myself, I could care less about a ranked server. As I have stated many times, I play for the relaxation and recreation factor. And the companionship of you fine killers. Guess we will just have to see what EA will do. I imagine with some user surveys and feedback that they would want to keep the multi-player set up similar to what they offer now, because more people would be apt to stay with what they know.

I have no plans to do so now, but if I ever did consider running an Airborne server it would absolutely be "unranked". For me, not modding is like not breathing.

You know we would be drooling to see what you could come up with in a new setting Lam. and us loyal Lamorainans would filter in slowly at first till we all could pony up for the game.. but when we all got there I think it would be a blast as always.
Have they even released any info on the modability of airborn?

Thanks for explaining, HairClog. I have never done BF2 or any "ranked" anything, so that was all new to me, but now that you mention it, I recall seeing people on forums with sigs that list all these ribbons and ranks and weapon proficiencies, so I guess I now know what that was. I do hope I get the chance to play MOHAB without having to upgrade my Mac. Yesterday I bought my middle child a new MacIntel iMac and it comes with the recommended graphics processor but with only 128 of VRAM (we could have special ordered the 256 version for another $60 or so but we'd have to wait for the mac to come, and she didn't want to wait and doesn't play much except Quake and Wolf:ET). I won't need to get a new Mac for 2 or 3 more years for any other reason; one thing I don't like about Macs is that it is a little tricky to upgrade motherboards and graphics boards for the average user (me) due to space limitations, mostly.
Anyway, Herr, thanks for the information!!!

It looks like after I get a new computer, I'll want to take a two week vacation just to stay home and play the game! Two weeks, are you kidding me? I want two months. I watched the clips and it looks like an amazing game!

The hope among those waiting for it is that the kills=upgrade system is for the single player game. Hopefully, for the multi-player game the admin will be able to select playing with no upgrades, all upgrades, or earned upgrades. Otherwise, you'd end up with the better players having better weapons, and noobies wouldn't have a chance.

...one thing I don't like about Macs is that it is a little tricky to upgrade motherboards and graphics boards for the average user (me) due to space limitations, mostly. Funny, Hah, Hah. But do I actually need to explain? I was just being honest and pragmatic. All the iMac workings--hard disk, motherboard, speakers, camera, ports, DVD burner, screen, etc. --are all in the same size thin thin rectangular box you see---no towers or external power this or that or hooked in pieces, etc.--so if the "new" graphics board is just a little too fat or is rectangular this way when it should be rectangular that way, 3rd party replacement parts and upgrades (Apple or otherwise) won't necessarily fit in the previous iMac chassis. It is so rare that an iMac guy wants to do that, and the iMacs are really sold as a nice powerful bundle ready to go out of the box (as I have explained repeatedly), and thus this is even more rarely an issue. If indeed my current iMac, which is blazing fast and has gobs video power and memory to handle COD2, etc. without even blinking, and it's 1.5 years old, can't handle the graphics needs for MOH:A, then I will consider a cheap upgrade (replacing the vid board from the current ATI Radeon X600 XT with 128 Mb VRAM to the suggested ATI Radeon X1600 with 256 Mb VRAM). The ATI Radeon X1600 with 128 Mb VRAM [256 is an option for about $35 extra if ordered ahead of time] appears to be the standard vid card situation with the new iMacs (I just bought one in June for my middle child), but if instead I just want a new iMac, say in a year from now, I'd probably just be better off not trying to upgrade but instead to get the latest iMac which would then be expected to far fulfill the graphics needs of MOH:A (which would have been out about a year by that time). Now, if I instead had a Mac tower (the Mac Pro), it is a typical tower with all kinds of bulging and empty slots/bins, and I could do what I want with that, from the standard Apple-supplied vid board (see graph) to the higher 3rd Apple option (again, see graph) to (I'm assuming) whatever I want to put in. But I'm not a tower kind of guy, though, I'm an all-in-one, kiss-my-empty-slots kind of guy. Plus, even I think the Mac Pro is too expensive. So, are we clear?
