Inform them you're not paying for the service you're not getting and in fact want a prorated refund since it was supposed to have been fixed, and that you're going to check with all your neighbors and see if they're being cheated, too! That will probably speed things up.

LOL RR I pretty much told them that, I will walk across the drive way here in a min and check my dads speed. He also has paid for the upgraded service. Im wondering if he is getting it or not as we have the same ISP.

..... All the cool kids are using cable connections. Yep, tis true. And yet, I bought a new house in a new subdivision out in the 'burbs when I lived in Ohio, and even though we had buried utilities and cable already in the ground with big junction boxes between every 2 houses and at the end of every street, the big big big cable connecting the main signal to each of us took more than a year to be installed, just for basic cable TV signal!!! My only options, other than moving, were to live off airwaves for that time or install a satellite system. I chose to wait, and boy did I miss the Sci-Fi channel! And even then, high-speed cable internet was not available for 3 years more! Ugh, I had dial-up AOL as my ISP. And what was worse, all that time the big city nearby (I'm being sarcastic here) where I worked had RoadRunner cable internet access, so I was aware of what I didn't have by moving outside the city! It is no wonder that I didn't do any on-line gaming until I got cable internet in the fall of 2004 in Florida. An AOL download through my blisteringly-hot 56K modem (getting 50 K of DL speed) of 5 Mb took 2.5 hours, and now I get 20 Mb game maps in less than 2 minutes easily! So, I pity the people who don't have cable access through no fault of their own!

Im running Verizon Fios (Fiber Optic) here with 15Mbs down and 2Mbs upstream. This is the most consistant up time and solid connection I have ever had. It is the business package with a bunch of static IP's (for my servers and assorted thingys). It is running me $99 a mo, and I can upgrade to 5Mbs up if I need to. The west coast is way behind most of you guys in fiber, I hear they get up to 30Mbs dwn and 10Mbs up. oh yea!

Chicago Server: Download Speed: 166 kbps (20.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 319 kbps (39.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
was the same everywhere else. I think I have everyone beat there. That kinda makes me wonder though, cuz we pay $40 a month for quest DSL... and those are the worst numbers I've seen. I think I'm gonna give them a call and see whats up. I turned off all other computers, have a direct corded connection to the router, so I should be at max speed there.

I think maybe he has a set of their fore bearers, before they figured out the sound would carry farther on hollow logs than solid ones. hehe

You won't believe the blinding fast speed upgrade you'll be experiencing.

I'll definiately be trying the smoke signals, and the monkeys. Anything that could help. I might invest in some super fast styrafoam cups and some string, but that might be a little too much of a speed boost to handle right now.

Pres. did you have to complain to your ISP also to get the speed you were paying for?

I called qwest and they said they have never heard of speeds that low before. They said it wasn't possible that it was their fault. I told them I'm on this site right now, testing my internet speed, and it WAS possible. So after awhile trying to convince them that my internet really was this slow, they finally said they'd look into it. So I called every day asking what the status was, and they always said they are still looking into it. Then one day I checked my speed again, and it was faster. Still not as fast as I think I should have, but a lot faster than before.
