How fast is your Internet connection?

I'm just curious how fast a connection you guys have. I just upgraded mine recently so its pretty good.

So we're all using the same test, go to:

www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Try it 3-4 times and post your best results. After the test is done there is a text result at the bottom of the screen you can just cut and paste.

Mine:

Download Speed: 10017 kbps (1252.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 975 kbps (121.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Since I know so little about computers. I am going to guess the higher the number the better?

Here is my work PC result, though, through Atlanta; I think it's a T1 line:
Download Speed: 1073 kbps (134.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 652 kbps (81.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

I like www.speedtest.net, myself, and I usually have to go through the Atlanta server as the closest server available. www.speedtest.net

Upload Speed: 312 kbps (39 KB/sec transfer rate)

I have a DSL connection and It seems pretty fast??? lol i guess not!

-Both tests showed similar results multiple times.. yahoo DSL sucks!

No, those numbers are about what you would expect for a good cable Internet connection. Its plenty fast enough for any normal usage. Mine's faster because I'm paying extra for the super premium service. I need it to run the server smoothly and because I sometimes need to upload big files.

Apparently, the Internet itself is hosted on a computer in Lost_Child's basement. I've never seen such insanely high numbers.

On the other hand, michiganmilitia's connection is actually two coffee cans connected by a waxed piece of string. Keep the string taut for best results!

lol wow... It was suggested that a thin wire may work better than my waxed string. Someone even had the balls to suggest that a TELEPHONE WIRE might work best! hahahahaha a telephone wire? seriously you guys... what a silly idea!

Could everyone maybe chime in with what kind of connection they have? (DSL, Cable, T1, etc) Just curious, Thanks!

I'm running 5 computers off my meager 160 KB/sec DSL and I rarely have trouble loading things on the net.
