I was playing around with making a new internet homepage for myself, but decided to expand it a little and share it with anyone who would like to use it. Your homepage (the first page you see everytime you start your internet browser) gets loaded very often. I think most people probably set it to either a search engine or to whoever their E-Mail server is. Usually these pages either don't have enough info, or are packed with pictures and ads that slow it down. Exactly the opposite of what you want on a page you see so often. So I set out to make a very lightweight page without pictures or fluff to slow it down. It shouldn't require scrolling in any browser configuration, as best as I can tell. This is still in the testing stages, so a few more addtions will be made. Right now it has a couple of search engines, E-Mail access links, on-line utilities, and a simplified server status box. Here it is: www.lamronsplayground.comPreview it and if you like it you can try using it as your homepage. If you are at all interested in using it this way, let me know what type of E-Mail you use and I'll add it on. If there are any other utilities you use often, let me know where they are and I might be able to pull them out of their pages and add them here.

Very cool Lamron.. I will be setting it to my home page..Currently I have www.lamronsplayground.com set as my homepage but this will be better I think as it has many of the links I already use frequently on it... I also use gmail e-mail site, I think there are a few others here that do also. Weatherbug.com Is a good one (don't know if you can add it and have it so people can set it to their locations when it loads or not.) Maybe a Wikipedia search box so we can do research to counter Red's Mac posts and such. lol again very good Idea... (why didn't I think of this before) lol thanks again. ;D

That is a nice idea, Lamron.
When I had only dial-up service, I used google.com as my home page for the reason that it was simple and loaded quickly. When I got cable internet, I went to iwon.com (set to my own personal home page already signed in) which gives me weather, news, local tv listings, all on one page (with some scrolling down for the tv listings) and a chance (albeit very very small) to win cash prizes just for launching the page and any of the links there, and it usually (99% of the time) loads fast, and I ignore all the ads and distractors by habit.
Your site adds a few other important or frequent links to a simple home page. Nice work. If I can think of a few frequent links I want up there on it, rather than just bookmarks on my browser menu bar, those could be added simply?

LOL I can't believe I fell for it, I actually cut and pasted that link to see where it went. ;D What did you have in mind? Post the links and I'll take a look. I kind of want to stay with universally useful tools. There is limited space for extra stuff since I'm trying to keep it all on one non-scrolling page.

Lamron,
how about a TS status window or read out like in the TS thread of who is on currently, tucked into a corner or somewhere on the page?
Just an Idea

LOL, DS. I might actually be tempted to try that one, IF it were spelled correctly enough to make it look like it might be a real site!

Don't know how many people use it here, but a myspace link would be good. #1 site in the world I think. Worthy of a quick link.

If there's enough interest, I could add expandable boxes for links to other sites grouped by category/subject. How many of you would be interested, and what sites would you like available? And are there any features your current homepage has (and you use) that aren't here?

I like the myspace link idea that The Pres had. Other than that I cannot think of anything that would have mass appeal... UNLESS you could create an area for us to add in our own personal links for work, banking, etc. Now THAT would rock! I am using the page though as it works well for me.
